You'll land in Accra and connect with your tour guide for the hotel transfer. The evening brings a welcome dinner and orientation covering African culture, and if you're interested, tailors and dressmakers are on hand to create custom African outfits for you.

- Day 2
Accra
Start your day at the National Museum of Ghana to get context on the country's history. From there, head to the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum honoring Ghana's first President, then move on to the W.E.B. Du Bois Center where you'll find his library and final resting place. By afternoon, the Arts Center gives you a chance to see local crafts and catch some cultural performances.

Accra
Today focuses on Accra's historic forts and castles that mark the city's complex colonial history. You'll visit Usher Fort and James Fort, then continue to Christiansborg Castle (also called Osu Castle) and Fort Jameson. These sites tell the difficult story of the transatlantic slave trade and Ghana's path to independence.

Accra
You'll participate in a traditional African naming ceremony at the Nkyinkyim Museum. The day includes a guided tour through the museum's African art and artifacts, time to observe ceremonial preparations, and then the naming ritual itself with invocations to ancestors, libations, prayers, traditional songs, and drumming.

Accra to Cape Coast
The drive to Cape Coast takes about 4 hours. Along the way, you'll stop at Assin Manso at the Slave River, a site of profound historical significance where enslaved people took their final bath on African soil. Later, you'll reach Cape Coast Castle, one of Ghana's most important historical landmarks documenting the transatlantic slave trade.

Elmina - Kakum
Morning takes you to Elmina Castle (St. George's Castle), built in 1482 and the oldest European structure in sub-Saharan Africa, now a UNESCO World Heritage site. After lunch, you'll drive to Kakum National Park for an afternoon on the canopy walkway suspended above the treetops, offering views of Ghana's wildlife and forest biodiversity.

Kakum to Accra

Accra
This day is nature-focused, starting at Aburi Botanical Gardens where you'll walk through diverse plant species and peaceful landscapes. After that, Safari Valley Resort offers eco-friendly activities including wildlife safaris, birdwatching, and hiking trails. Finish up at Asenema Waterfall, a quieter spot with cascading water where you can relax before heading back.
