Catania
You'll arrive in Catania and get settled into your hotel. This is your chance to rest up and get oriented before the Sicilian exploration kicks off tomorrow.

Catania - Syracuse
Start the morning at Catania's Cathedral and then head to Castello Ursino. After that, it's on to Syracuse where you'll walk through the Teatro Greco and the Archaeological Museum to see Greek and Roman artifacts. Later you'll wander the old town, passing the Temple of Apollo and crossing Piazza Archimede to reach the Fountain of Artemis. The day ends at the Arethusa spring where you can see where locals gather.

Pantalica - Noto - Ragusa Ibla
You'll drive across the Hyblaean Mountains to reach Pantalica, the necropolis where the Siculi buried their dead from the 13th to 8th century BC. Then head to Noto around lunchtime to see its bright Baroque architecture. Later you'll continue to Ragusa Ibla, the lower town rebuilt in Baroque style after the 1693 earthquake.

Enna - Morgantina - Piazza Armerina
Start in the mountain town of Enna, which was once a sanctuary to Demeter. Climb up the Staufer fortress tower for views across the landscape. Then check out the excavations at Morgantina, which has been inhabited since the early Bronze Age. By afternoon, you'll visit Villa Casale near Piazza Armerina to see the mosaics showing daily and courtly life from ancient Rome.

Agrigento
Head to the Valley of the Temples near Agrigento to see Sicily's ancient Greek temples stretching across about two kilometers. Spend time walking through the temples and then visit the modern Archaeological Museum with its collection of artifacts and exhibits.

Selinunte - Castelvetrano
Visit Selinunte, one of Sicily's largest ancient sites, where you can see Greek temples from the 6th and 5th centuries BC. Spend time exploring the complex and then check out the quarries at Cave di Cusa. In the afternoon, you'll explore Castelvetrano and its Norman church.

Marsala - Mozia
Start in Marsala where you'll take a walk through town and do a wine tasting with snacks. Then head to the ancient Phoenician island of Mozia to see the monumental city walls and a marble youth sculpture from the 5th century BC in the local museum. You'll return to Marsala for dinner, and the choice of restaurants is yours.

Erice - Segesta - Palermo
Drive up to the mountain village of Erice for great views over Trapani and the north-west coast. Then you'll continue to the Temple of Segesta standing alone in the landscape, where the theater offers wide views of mountains and coastline. After that, you'll arrive in Palermo.

Palermo
You'll explore Palermo's art and history starting with the cathedral on your own schedule. Stop at Frederick II's sarcophagus to learn about the court. Then check out the mosaics in the Cappella Palatina at the Norman Palace and walk through the church of S. Giovanni degli Eremiti.

Cefalù - Tindari - Oliveri
Head to Cefalù, nestled at the foot of a massive rock, to explore the old town and Norman cathedral. Then travel to Tindari, which sits high above the sea and is Sicily's main pilgrimage site. You'll spend the night in the small village of Oliveri where authentic restaurants and pizzerias are nearby.

Nebroden Mountains - Abakaion - Tripi - Montalbano Elicona
Drive to the Nebroden mountains with a stop at a beekeeping farm to taste local honey. You'll explore the ancient Greek excavation of Abakaion and see its necropolis. Later, visit the medieval town of Tripi and its small archaeological museum. After a picnic lunch with wine outdoors, you'll see the giant megalithic rocks on the Argimusco plateau. Before heading back to Oliveri, stop briefly at Montalbano Elicona, recognized as one of Italy's most beautiful villages.

Mount Etna - Taormina - Giardini Naxos
Leave Oliveri and drive up to Mount Etna. If the weather cooperates, you'll walk through the solidified lava near the Silvestri craters, and you can drive higher to the summit if you want (at your own cost). In the afternoon, head to Taormina to walk through quiet alleyways to the Greco-Roman theater. You'll see the blue sea and Mount Etna before reaching Giardini Naxos.
