Arrival in Bucharest
You'll arrive in Bucharest and check into your hotel. Once you're settled, there's a city tour lined up covering Romania's capital, including the Patriarchal Church and Palace of Parliament, plus a walk through the center. If your flight gets in late, don't worry - the tour can shift to your last day instead.

- Day 2
Bucharest to Sibiu
It's a drive to Curtea de Arges to see two significant medieval churches, the Prince's Church and Bishop's Church, both with impressive Byzantine art and frescoes. You'll pick between two routes: one through the scenic Olt Valley and the Monastery of One Wood, or the mountain option over the Transfagarasan road at 2,100m (July-October only). After that, you head to Sibiu for the night.

Sibiu
A guided tour takes you through Sibiu's historic medieval section. You'll see the Old Town Hall Tower, Bridge of Lies, Pempflinger Stairs, the Great and Small Ring squares, and the Protestant parish church on Huet Square. The tour also covers the lower Old Town and the Zibinsmarkt area.

Sibiu to Malancrav/Sighisoara
You'll travel through Transylvanian Highlands villages heading toward Sighisoara. Stop at the fortified church in Mosna, then check out Medias to see its fortified church remains and Biertan's Saxon fortified church (UNESCO site). From there, continue to Malancrav. Optional coffee with a local can be arranged. You'll stay overnight in Malancrav or Sighisoara depending on availability.

Sighisoara to Baia Mare
After breakfast, you'll get to know Sighisoara, one of Romania's nicest towns. Wander the 16th-17th century alleyways, climb the Stundturm tower to visit the history museum, explore the Upper Town, and climb 175 steps on the Pupils' Staircase to reach the grammar school and mountain church. Then it's on to Cluj Napoca to see St. Michael's Church before continuing to Baia Mare in Maramures.

Maramures to Gura Homurului/Vama
You're exploring Maramures, Romania's most original region where traditional life and folk art remain strong. Visit the 'cheerful' cemetery in Sapanta village, see the new Barsana nunnery and Toader Barsan's wood workshop, check out wooden churches in Ieud, then cross the Prislop Pass toward Bukovina. You'll arrive in Gura Homurului/Vama by evening.

Bukovina Monasteries and Ceramics
You'll see UNESCO World Heritage Moldavian monasteries from Stephen the Great's era (15th-16th century). Moldovita, Sucevita, and Voronet monasteries are your stops, all famous for their frescoed exterior walls that look like illustrated Bibles. There's a stop at the ceramics center in Marginea to see black ceramics being made. Later in the afternoon, visit the Easter Egg Museum in Vama as you drive through beech forests.

Bukovina to Brasov
Drive toward Tragu Neamt and visit the monastery, then cross the Carpathians back into Transylvania. You'll pass through the striking Bicaz Gorge and stop at Lacul Rosu (Murder Lake) for an optional easy walk around it. After that, continue through Szeklerland (largely Hungarian) via Miercurea Ciuc to get to Brasov.

Brasov
Head to Sinaia, a 900m high winter resort home to a 17th-century monastery. Check out Peles Castle, built in southern German Renaissance style as a summer home for the Hohenzollern royal family. Stroll the English garden or relax at the castle's restaurant terrace. Then continue to Bran for the legendary Castle of Count Dracula. Back in Brasov, tour the old town and see the Black Church, the city's landmark and cultural hub for the German-speaking community.

Brasov to Tulcea
You're traveling from Brasov toward the Danube Delta. Arrive in Tulcea, the gateway to the delta, and check into your hotel on the Danube banks for the next two nights. If you prefer, a boat transfer to the delta's heart is available.

Landmarks Danube Delta - Day 11
Danube Delta
Spend the full day exploring the Danube Delta's canal network. You'll cruise the Sulina main canal, narrow side canals, and Lake Fortuna to see the protected habitat with pelicans, reed islands, lagoons, marshes, oak forests, and dunes. This UNESCO World Heritage Site has Europe's largest reed landscape. Lunch is served on the boat. Alternatively, you can stay overnight in Uzlina and take boat trips on smaller canals and lakes.
