Rüdesheim

Breisach

If sparkling wine interests you, Geldermann's wine facilities are optional but available to tour.

Your train pulls into Mainz at 7:00 AM, giving you a solid 16 hours to get a real feel for this historic city along the Rhine. Start by grabbing coffee at one of the cafes near the station, then head into the old town to walk through streets that have been here for centuries. The riverside location means you can stroll along the water between stops, and there's plenty of Roman history woven into the architecture if you're into that. By evening, you'll want to head back toward the station area, so plan your later activities closer to there. You've got until 11:00 PM, so there's no need to rush through everything early.
