- Day 1
Madrid
Your driver will meet you at Madrid airport and take you to your hotel. The rest of the evening is free to settle in and relax after your journey.


- Day 2
Madrid
A coach tour takes you through Madrid's historic neighborhoods like Barrio de la Morerría and Puerta del Sol, then through modern areas and past Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu stadium. You'll have the afternoon free to explore on your own. Later, there's a group welcome dinner at a local tapas restaurant.

Madrid to Porto
After breakfast, you'll leave Madrid and stop in Salamanca, the university city, where you'll have free time to walk around. Then the drive continues into Portugal heading to Porto, one of Europe's oldest cities sitting along the Douro River estuary, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Porto
A guided tour of Porto takes you to the cathedral, Stock Exchange, and Santa Clara Church. You'll also take a boat ride on the Douro River and visit a Port Wine Cellar by the river to sample and taste the local wine. Tonight brings a group dinner at one of Porto's oldest Fado venues.

Porto to Aveiro to Coimbra
After breakfast, you'll head to Aveiro, known as the 'Venice of Portugal,' for a boat trip on a traditional Moliceiro through the canals. There's free time for lunch before you continue to Coimbra, a former Portuguese capital. You'll walk through the historic streets, see the University of Coimbra with its Baroque library, the Old Cathedral, and the medieval quarter.

Coimbra to Batalha to Nazaré to Alcobaca to Lisbon
This morning you'll visit the UNESCO-listed Batalha Monastery, a 14th century Gothic structure marking Portugal's 1385 victory over the Castilians. Free time follows in the fishing village of Nazaré, then you'll see the 12th century Alcobaça monastery, a fine Gothic example. From there, you continue to Lisbon with the evening free.

Lisbon

The afternoon is yours to explore, and the Alfama Quarter is worth a visit with its narrow alleyways, colorful tabernas, and Sao Jorge Castle overlooking it all.

Lisbon to Merida to Cordoba
You'll depart Lisbon and cross back into Spain with a stop in Merida, a city founded by the Romans in 25 BC. There you'll see the Roman Theatre, Amphitheatre, and the Guadiana River Roman Bridge. From there, the journey continues to Cordoba, once capital of the Caliphate.

- Day 9
Cordoba to Seville
This morning's tour of Cordoba covers its importance as a Roman city and later Islamic center during the Middle Ages. You'll visit the sprawling La Mezquita mosque-cathedral from 988 AD and explore the Jewish Quarter. Then you'll travel southwest to Seville, capital of Andalusia.

Seville

Seville to Jerez to Ronda
After breakfast, you'll drive through small Andalusian villages to the hilltop town of Jerez, known for sherry wine and flamenco heritage. You'll tour a winery for sherry tasting with light lunch, then head to a local olive oil mill for an experience where you'll see olive groves and taste organic oil. Later you'll continue to the hilltop town of Ronda.

Ronda to Gibraltar to Tarifa to Tetouan
You'll drive through Andalusian countryside to Gibraltar with free time to explore this British territory. You can see the Rock of Gibraltar with views over the Mediterranean and Atlantic, and spot the famous Barbary macaques. Then it's off to Tarifa for a ferry crossing the Strait of Gibraltar to Tangier in Africa, and you'll drive south to Tetouan between the Rif Mountains and Mediterranean. This charming town has a well-preserved medina (UNESCO site) and Andalusian architecture before dinner at your hotel.

Fes
A guided tour of Fes covers this UNESCO-listed ancient city, one of Morocco's most important imperial capitals and the world's oldest and largest medieval city. You'll walk through some of the medina's 9,400 alleyways, see the seven gates of the Royal Palace, check out the Jewish Quarter, and view the ornate Bab Bou Jeloud gate built in 1913. The afternoon is free. Dinner is at your hotel, though an optional show with dinner is available (book and pay locally).

Fes to Marrakech
After leaving Fes, you'll drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains past Berber villages and valleys with olive groves and cedar forests. Further south, the landscape shifts to the High Atlas Mountains with winding roads and different scenery at each turn. By day's end, you'll reach Marrakech.

- Day 16
Marrakech
A sightseeing tour starts at the Menara Gardens with its pavilion and olive trees. You'll see the exterior of the Koutoubia Tower, similar to Seville's Giralda, then visit the Bahia Palace, once owned by a local nobleman. Finally, you'll reach Djemaa el Fna square where you can explore bustling souks and the medina with artisan workshops for woodwork, ceramics, fur, and spices. Dinner is at your hotel or join an optional 'Fantasia Chez Ali' show with dinner (book and pay locally).

Leaving early from Marrakech, you'll head to Casablanca on a coach tour passing United Nations Square, Boulevard de la Corniche, and the iconic Hassan II Mosque. Then it's on to Rabat, Morocco's capital, where you'll stay the night.

You'll leave Morocco today, traveling back to Tangier and taking the ferry across the Strait of Gibraltar back to Spain. Once there, you'll drive along the scenic Costa del Sol to either a Costa del Sol location or Malaga for the night.

Granada to Madrid
This morning you'll visit the Alhambra complex, the famous 13th century palace and fortress that's one of the best-preserved examples of early Islamic architecture and also features Spanish Renaissance elements. You'll explore the Alhambra and the adjacent Generalife Gardens, which inspired authors including Washington Irving who wrote Tales of the Alhambra in 1832. After the tour, you'll make your final journey back to Madrid.
