Hello Roger Thank you for your fantastic feedback! We’re thrilled to hear that your 12-day adventure in Madagascar was so memorable. Aristide and the team appreciated working closely with you to create the perfect itinerary, from Andasibe’s lemurs and chameleons to the adventurous Tsingy trails and scenic river crossings. It’s wonderful that Mr. Tovo and our drivers made your journey comfortable and enjoyable, even in the remote areas. Ending your trip on the beautiful beaches of Nosy Be sounds like the perfect way to wrap up such a unique experience. Thank you for recommending us—Madagascar is indeed extraordinary, and we’re so glad you felt safe and well cared for throughout. Warm regards, The Travelia Safari Team

    Paul

    Asked on March 4th, 2026

I'm interested in this tour and doing some time in April, but I am a solo traveller. Would I be able to join this Tsingy of Bemaraha Tour or is this for private groups only?

    Group size
    • Travelia SafariOperatorWritten March 2026

You are very welcome to join this tour in April. The tour is open to both solo travelers and groups, so you can proceed with the booking without any concerns.

Please note that access to Tsingy de Bemaraha will reopen from the last week of April. Before that period, access is not possible as the road conditions remain difficult following the heavy rains in January and February. Although the rainy season has ended, the road is still challenging.

    • P

      Paul

      TravelerWritten March 2026

So does that mean that this tour will not be able to visit Tsingy before the last week of April? If so since Tsingy is a key part of this tour what will replace that part of the tour?

    • Travelia SafariOperatorWritten March 2026

Each year, rainfall in the Tsingy de Bemaraha region is generally heavy. However, this year the area has received less rain than usual. It may possibly become accessible in early April, but at this stage nothing is guaranteed.

As an alternative to visiting Tsingy, we propose replacing it with a visit to Andasibe-Mantadia National Park.

The revised itinerary would be as follows:

      • Day 1: Arrival in Antananarivo, transfer to the hotel.
      • Day 2: Drive to Andasibe. Visit Peyrieras Reptile Reserve, followed by a night walk in Andasibe-Mantadia National Park.
      • Day 3: Morning visit in Andasibe National Park, then visit Vakona Private Reserve. Drive back to Antananarivo.
      • Day 4: Domestic flight to Morondava. Upon arrival, visit Kimony Reserve, then drive to Kirindy Forest for a night walk.
      • Day 5: Morning visit in Kirindy Forest, drive back to Morondava, and sunset visit at Avenue of the Baobabs.
      • Day 6: Morondava. Visit Betania fishing village, then visit Zazamalala Reserve.
      • Day 7: Domestic flight back to Antananarivo. Upon arrival, visit Lemurs' Park.
      • Day 8: Morning city tour, souvenir shopping, visit the Rova of Antananarivo, then transfer to the airport.

We will keep this itinerary as Option B in case Tsingy de Bemaraha remains inaccessible.

On Tour Radar this tour is described as "medium intensity." Would you please advise more detail on typical walks and hikes such as length, terrain, elevation, climate, etc.

    Tour Details
    • Travelia SafariOperatorWritten February 2026

      1. Kirindy Reserve (Day 3)
      * Terrain: Flat, loose sand (dry deciduous forest).
      * Length: 3–5 km (2–3 hours).
      * Climate: Intense dry heat (up to 35°C). Shade is limited.
      * Difficulty: Easy to Moderate (due to heat and soft sand).

      2. Grand Tsingy of Bemaraha (Day 4)
      * Terrain: Sharp limestone pinnacles, narrow crevices, and caves. Includes ladders and a suspension bridge (70m high).
      * Length: 4–6 km (4–5 hours due to verticality).
      * Climate: Very hot; rocks radiate heat.
      * Difficulty: Hard / Technical. Requires a harness (provided) and sturdy boots. Not for those with severe vertigo or claustrophobia.

I doubt we are physically able to do the Grand Tsingy of the Bemaraha; is the Petit Tsingy tour an option?

    • Travelia SafariOperatorWritten February 2026

Yes, the alternative program would include a visit to the Petit Tsingy and a pirogue excursion along the Manambolo River Gorge.

      • A guided pirogue ride through the Manambolo River Gorge, navigating between high limestone cliffs formed over millions of years, with opportunities to observe geological formations and endemic flora along the riverbanks.

      • A visit to the natural caves located along the gorge, including short explorations inside limestone chambers featuring stalactites, stalagmites, and historical burial sites of the local Sakalava people.

      • A guided walk in the Petit Tsingy, accessible via marked trails and metal walkways, allowing you to safely explore the smaller limestone pinnacles, narrow passages, and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the surrounding landscape.

This alternative offers a combination of light adventure, geological discovery, and cultural insight in a compact and accessible format.

      TravelerWritten March 2026

What do we do for other meals, especially when we are in the parks. Are there restaurants, or do we buy meals from the lodges? Is drinking water readily available for purchase?

    • Travelia SafariOperatorWritten March 2026

Regarding meals, lunch will always be served at your lodge or hotel. For example, in Tsingy de Bemaraha, all timings are carefully arranged to ensure that lunch is served no later than 1:00 PM.

Drinking water will be fully provided throughout the trip. We supply 1.5 liters of bottled water per person per day. Should you wish to have more, additional bottles are easily available for purchase, even in remote areas.

    • Travelia SafariOperatorWritten November 2025

The tour will start and end in Antananarivo. The visit to Bemaraha National Park is indeed included in the tour. You'll take the domestic flight to Antananarivo on Day 6 (September 7), and during the last two days, you'll enjoy visits to Lemurs Park, Ambohimanga Rova, and a city tour of Antananarivo. Regarding the domestic flight, you'll need to make the booking directly on the Madagascar Airlines website.

We already have travelers booked in September, but for a different destination. That said, you are still welcome to make a reservation. We always guarantee departures, even for solo travelers. In this case, the tour would be conducted privately for you, but still charged at the group rate (unless others join on the same date). I recommend the following travel window: Start of tour: August 29, End of tour: September 5. Assuming your home country does not have a visa agreement with the country you're planning to visit, you will need to apply for a visa in advance of your scheduled departure.
    • Here is an indication for which countries you might need a visa. Please contact the local embassy for help applying for visas to these places.
