Itinerary
- Day 1
Airport to Negombo
You'll arrive at the airport and get transferred to your hotel, then head out to Negombo for an afternoon tour of this fishing village. The area's known for its Dutch Canal with colorful fishing boats, waterfront houses, and churches where you might spot kingfishers and parrots. If you're interested, there are optional catamaran or boat trips available.

- Day 2
Negombo to Udawalawe
This morning you'll drive to Sinharaja National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site covering around 6,092 hectares with the largest continuous forest in Sri Lanka. You'll hike through the forest to see the forest's diverse plant and animal life, then continue on to Udawalawe for the night.

Udawalawe to Tissamaharama
After breakfast, you'll go on a safari in Udawalawe National Park and visit an elephant breeding station where orphaned elephants are fed and cared for before returning to the wild. In the afternoon, you'll travel to Kataragama to see a temple ceremony at this important pilgrimage site for Buddhists, Hindus, and Muslims, then stay the night in Tissamaharama.

- Day 4
Tissamaharama to Mirissa
Early this morning you'll drive through the hinterland to Yala National Park, Sri Lanka's second largest park. A wildlife safari gives you chances to see Asian elephants (over 400 in the park), bears, leopards, crocodiles, and birds of prey. By afternoon you'll head to Mirissa for a 3-night stay.

- Day 5
Mirissa
After breakfast, you'll drive to Dondra to visit the highest lighthouse in Sri Lanka and see the Vishnu temple. On your way back to Mirissa, you'll stop at Wewurukannala Vihara temple with its 50-metre-high Buddha statue, the largest in the country. You'll also do an afternoon city tour in Dickwella before returning to Mirissa.

Mirissa
After breakfast, you'll head to Koggala and take a zero-emission boat to Thala Thuduwa island in the lagoon to see mangrove conservation work. You'll walk a nature trail with 10 different mangrove types and learn about the ecosystem. Later, you'll go to Galle for a three-hour bike tour through the fourth largest city, seeing colonial buildings and the UNESCO fortress with its mix of Asian and Portuguese architecture before heading back to Mirissa.

Mirissa to Colombo Airport
You'll leave Mirissa after breakfast and stop at a turtle farm, then continue on to Colombo airport where you should arrive around 5 pm. There's the option to extend your stay at one of the island's resorts if you'd like, with transfers available between Chilaw and Hambantota.
