You'll land at Gqeberha Airport where staff will greet you and provide hotel vouchers. From there, it's a drive to your lodge in Amakhala Private Game Reserve, which you'll reach by early afternoon. After you get settled in your room, there's time for your first game drive in an open safari vehicle before heading to dinner.

Amakhala Private Game Reserve
Your ranger takes you out twice today - morning and afternoon game drives in an open safari vehicle. During these drives, your ranger shares information about South African wildlife and helps you spot animals in their natural habitat. You'll return to the lodge between drives and then again for dinner.

Amakhala to Plettenberg Bay
An early morning game drive gets the day started, followed by breakfast back at the lodge. Then you head out toward Plettenberg Bay, driving through the Addo region to reach this coastal town. Portuguese discoverers called it the 'beautiful bay,' and you'll see why with the gardens and ocean views when you arrive.

- Day 4
Plettenberg Bay
Plettenberg Bay gives you several options for how to spend your time. You can take a boat trip through the lagoon to see the famous Knysna Heads, visit the Knysna Oyster Company, or try fresh fish at restaurants along the Waterfront. If you prefer land-based activities, the Robberg Nature Reserve has trails where you can hike and explore the natural landscape.

Plettenberg Bay to Hermanus
You'll drive west along the Garden Route today, passing through a few towns along the way. Mossel Bay has its historic Post Office Tree, then you pass through George and Wilderness before arriving in Hermanus late in the afternoon. The route itself is scenic, following the South African coastline.

Hermanus
Hermanus is yours to explore at your own pace. If it's whale season, listen for the whale crier announcing when whales arrive in the bay. You can visit nearby Stanford, a charming Victorian-style village with restaurants and galleries, or walk the Cliff Path for ocean views. Local artist galleries around town showcase contemporary and decorative work if that interests you.

Hermanus to Cape Town
Today you head to the Western Cape wine region with options in mind. Stellenbosch offers Cape Dutch architecture and wine estates to tour, while Franschhoek is known as the gourmet capital. You could pack a picnic lunch basket to enjoy at one of the wine estates if you'd like. From there, you drive to Cape Town and the Constantia wine region, arriving in the afternoon with free time to settle in.

Cape Town
Cape Town's attractions are yours to choose from. Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, the city center, and the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront with cafes, restaurants, and galleries are all options. If weather allows, there's an optional cable car ride up Table Mountain for sunset views (ticket separate). You could also add a helicopter flight or a catamaran cruise followed by dinner afterward if those appeal to you.
