Panama City to El Valle de Antón
Pick up your rental car and head to El Valle de Antón, a mountain village about 600 meters up. The drive takes you past Altos de Campana National Park where there are optional viewpoints and hiking trails to check out. El Valle has plenty of nature activities going on, with a relaxed village feel and local markets and gardens to walk through.

El Valle de Antón
You've got the whole day to explore El Valle however you like. Hike to nearby peaks, look for birds, visit a butterfly farm, or check out the crater. If you're interested, there's a night hike option to see the local flora and fauna. This is a good day for outdoor activities in the mountain village.

El Valle de Antón to Pedasi
Drive south toward the Azuero peninsula and stop at the Church of Natá de los Caballeros, one of the oldest churches on the continent from around 1520. You'll pass through typical villages like Parita and La Villa de los Santos before reaching the coastal village of Pedasi. If you're traveling between July and October, watch for whales along the way.

Pedasi to Las Lajas/Boca Chica
Drive west along the Pan-American Highway (the famous road connecting Alaska to Tierra del Fuego) through San Félix to reach either a German-managed finca in Las Lajas or a European-run boutique hotel in Boca Chica. Both locations give you access to outdoor activities in a more remote setting.

Drive to Boquete, a mountain town sitting at about 1,300 meters elevation surrounded by lush green countryside. The town is famous for coffee, flower cultivation like orchids and roses, and strawberries. Your lodge is situated in the mountains outside the town center, which works well if you prefer a nature-focused setting.
