Itinerary
- Day 1
Giurgiu
You'll board your cruise ship in Giurgiu and get settled in for your river journey through Southeast Europe. After checking in and getting oriented with the ship, you'll have time to unpack and meet fellow travelers. The ship departs this evening, so take advantage of the deck to see Giurgiu as you pull away from port.

Bucharest / Veliko Tarnovo / Rousse / Ivanovo
Today you can choose how to spend your time with several options. You might head into Bucharest for more exploration, or venture to Bulgaria's medieval capital Veliko Tarnovo to see the fortress and orthodox temples. Other choices include checking out Rousse's 19th and 20th century architecture, or visiting the UNESCO Rock-Hewn Churches of Ivanovo, which feature some beautiful 14th-century frescoes. Return to the ship by evening.

Wine lovers might prefer heading to a local boutique winery in nearby Negovanovtsi for a tasting. All options get you back to the ship well before departure.

Golubac
This is a highlight of the cruise as you pass through the Iron Gates, where the Danube winds through impressive gorges between the Carpathian and Balkan mountains that form a natural border between Serbia and Romania. You'll see the ancient King Decebalus carved into the mountainside, and then visit Golubac Fortress, one of Europe's best preserved medieval fortresses. Spend time walking around and taking in the views.

Belgrade
In Belgrade, Serbia's vibrant capital, you've got options for how to fill your day. Take a guided city tour hitting the Nikola Tesla Museum, Kalemegdan Fortress, and the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Sava, or hike up to Belgrade Fortress on your own. In the afternoon, you can taste brandy and local appetizers including Sljivovitz, go on a guided bike tour, or head to Novi Sad for a walking tour through 'The Athens of Serbia' with stops at Stari Grad and Liberty Square.

You'll have an afternoon in Vukovar with several ways to spend it. Consider a guided city tour of Eltz Manor House, which has historic artifacts, paintings, and clothing collections. Alternatively, take an active bike tour around town or try a Croatian wine tasting and tour in the Old Cellars where you'll sample local wines like Grasevina, Traminac, and Frankovka. Head back to the ship for dinner.

If wine interests you, explore the Szeksza rd wine region, one of the oldest red-wine-growing areas in Hungary. You'll return to the ship by evening.
