Itinerary
- Day 1
Bucharest
You'll land at Otopeni Airport where your English-speaking driver-guide will be waiting to meet you. After grabbing your luggage, it's a transfer to your hotel where you can drop your bags and get settled. Once you've had a chance to catch your breath, head out to explore either the Old Town or Revolution Square and get your first real sense of Bucharest's layout and character.

- Day 2
Bucharest to Brasov
Start with a 2-hour drive to Peles Castle, the former summer palace of Romania's first king. From there, continue to Bran Castle, which inspired the Dracula story and sits pretty dramatically on the landscape. Later you'll drive to Council Square in Brasov, and before heading into the city proper, stop at a panoramic viewpoint on the mountainside to take in the medieval center below before getting closer.

Brasov to Sighisoara
Begin with the Black Church, a 14th-century Gothic structure that's hard to miss, then head to the Bear Sanctuary for about an hour walking through the woods and seeing the animals in their natural setting. Next stop is Rasnov Fortress before making your way to two UNESCO sites. In Viscri, you'll grab lunch and visit a Gypsy family to see how they make traditional ironware, then take a carriage ride around town. After that, drive to Sighisoara where you'll walk the Medieval Citadel, check out the Clock Tower and churches, and climb the 175 Student Stairs if your legs are up for it.

- Day 4
Sighisoara to Cluj Napoca
Travel to Malancrav and Biertan to see more of Saxon culture and their fortified churches. You'll pick one activity: either learn traditional weaving in Malancrav or do wine tasting in Richis village. Then it's a 2-hour drive to the underground Turda Salt Mine where you can walk around and experience the unique landscape below ground. Finish the day driving to Cluj Napoca, and your guide will show you around Union Square and the museum central square before calling it a night.

- Day 5
Cluj Napoca to Sibiu
Head to Sibiu but stop along the way at Alba Iulia Citadel and Corvin Castle, a large fortress surrounded by water with impressive towers and high walls. You'll arrive in Sibiu around dusk, and your driver-guide will walk you through the city center to see the churches and Council Tower before you settle into your hotel for the evening.

- Day 6
Sibiu to Bucharest
Today you'll drive the Transfagarasan road, the one BBC Top Gear called the greatest road in the world. Along the way, you'll stop to see Vidraru Dam, Poienari Fortress, and Curtea de Arges Monastery. The scenery changes as you go, and it's quite a drive. By evening you'll be back in Bucharest where you'll stay one more night.

- Day 7
Bucharest
Your final morning includes a visit to the Palace of Parliament, then head to the open-air Village Museum where you can walk through traditional buildings. If you have time before your flight, your guide can also take you to Snagov Monastery. After that, it's back to Otopeni Airport for your departure, timing the drive so you'll arrive according to your flight schedule.
