Regarding room photos, the accommodation on this tour is in locally owned guesthouses and B&Bs. The properties can vary by departure, so we aren't able to provide photos of the exact room in advance. However, the rooms are clean, comfortable, and private, with either an en-suite bathroom or, on rare occasions, a private bathroom located just outside the room. Does the tour offer single rooms for solo travelers?

One room for two people and another for one person, at the end of July, what is the price and availability?

I can absolutely check pricing and availability for 1 twin room and 1 single room for you. What currency would you prefer your quote in? (USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, etc.) Also, do you have a specific July departure date in mind, or are you flexible?

Is this trip doable for a person who can only walk for about 10 minutes at a time without needing to sit down. Person can climb 2 flights of stairs.

Although the Physical rating of this tour is easy, the pace is fast, and you will need to keep up with the pace of the group. We are likely to be hiking on the Isle of Sky and walking part will be much longer than 10 minutes. So I'm afraid this tour can be challenging if you need a rest after 10 minutes walk.

Can You help with pre hotel and getting to pick up spot

Would this itinerary allow us to ride the "Harry Potter" train?

While the Scottish Highlands From Edinburgh – 5 days tour is a fantastic journey, it doesn't include a ride on the Jacobite Steam Train (aka the "Harry Potter" train), and the stop in Fort William is too brief to make that happen. We travel to the jaw-dropping Glenfinnan Viaduct. Harry Potter fans will recognize it from the second movie, when harry and Ron attempt to catch up to the Hogwarts Express in a flying car. We cannot guarantee that the Jacobite Steam train that still operates here will cross the bridge during our visit, but the viaduct itself remains a wonderful viewpoint and feat of engineering.

Is the tour of the north of Scotland for 5 passengers guaranteed to go ahead on September 18th?

The 18th September is already guaranteed, and we currently have 7 spaces available. The availability is subject to change at any time.

My daughter(31), myself(73) and my best friend(73) are traveling together. My daughter and I will share a room with twin beds and my friend will probably have her own room, unless there is anyway to save her some money and book us in a larger room with 3 beds. If she will be charged the solo rate anyway, then there is no reason to room us all together. I have looked at the guesthouses mentioned for Ullapool and Portree and wondered if we can specify which one would be our first choice, as they are quite a bit different. Also, when would we be notified as to where we were going to be staying once we sign up and pay the deposit?

We could offer 1 x TWN room for yourself and your daughter to share and your friend could book a single room on their own, to save money we can request a Triple room however would need to contact our local team for cost and availability. Guesthouses do book very quickly and if booking 2 rooms even as a group I must inform you that there is a chance your friend may not be booked at the same accommodation as you and your daughter, we always do our best to keep those travelling as a group together however as rooms are limited, we can not guarantee. You can request your preference and we would be more than happy to let our local team know. Accommodations are confirmed 60days prior to departure and will be reflected on your travel vouchers once booked.

how much hiking is involved in this trip?

This tour is rated on the easy side in regards to physical activity. As long as you're physically fit and have no mobility issues, you'll be fine. We usually recommend you be able to walk at least 2kms without assistance before signing up to this tour. You won't be hiking more than 2kms at any one time.

Unfortunately our TourRadar tour was soured by the accommodation and lack of response from them. All of our accommodation was well out of town with no transport options to food options, which meant a 20-30 min walk each way in the dark, cold and rain which was quite dangerous. A response was not received from Tourradar until the trip had ended to which they confirmed it was within their walking distance guidelines so be prepared for this. The main issue was that most of the others on the tour all got accommodation in the towns in hotels but for some reason we had all ours well outside of the towns. At the final town in Portree another couple on the tour got dropped closer to town than us and they promptly left and walked into town with their bags and paid for additional rooms as it was just too far away from everything. Very disappointed ìn the response and that they think $1200 p/n is ok to be downgraded from the other passengers and left with no food options as they were just bnb's. We also had paid a lot more than all the others on the tour that had not booked through Touradar.Show more

Very expensive tour that did not deliver what was advertised We paid a significant amount for an expensive small-group, fully guided tour, but the experience did not match what was advertised. Our driver-guide repeatedly left us to find our own way around at stops, meaning we often relied on our own phones and Google Maps. On ferry crossings, he did not consistently ensure everyone was together, and on one occasion we were left at the ferry terminal despite being told we would be collected, with no way to contact him. I also had a documented shellfish allergy. When an issue arose, we were essentially left to deal with it ourselves and were even told we had gone to the wrong country. Communication with the guide was another major issue. Several of us asked him to slow down and face us when speaking because we were struggling to understand him. Instead, we were repeatedly told to “listen better.” There were also inaccurate booking information and other issues during the trip, along with promises about photographs/information that were never followed through. What is perhaps most disappointing is how On The Go Tours handled our complaint. They acknowledged some issues, including that incorrect information had appeared on their website, but ultimately concluded that the tour was delivered “substantially” as advertised and refused any compensation. The scenery in Scotland was fantastic, and we enjoyed the company of several fellow travelers. However, the level of guiding, organisation and customer support did not justify the premium price we paid. If you are considering booking with On The Go Tours, I would strongly recommend reading the details carefully and not assuming that “fully guided” means the guide will actually accompany you throughout the stops, or provide the level of support you might reasonably expect from such an expensive tour.Show more
