- ANora Amato· November 7th, 2025I was a tour manager for a senior clientele when I was younger and took 10 + trips/tours a year for about 12 years and was the decision maker for where the trips/tours would go, etc. Was disappointed that there was not an official "welcome" party (drink) for the Alaskan land/cruise tour - it was an expensive trip and our group never truly mixed with all the travelers from different groups. We had an excellent time and the weather was perfect - cool and not much rain (even though forecasted). I would book a different cruise line - Holland America was nice but a little "tired". The dining was a bummer since I have traveled on NCL and you do not have to sit in the same place and dine at the same time anymore. That option is more attractive. All the included or optional Collette Tours were spot on - I did not choose the Skagway tour as I wanted to ride the White Pass Rail - as did a total of 10 of us from our group...the other 3 went on the Collette Tour Skagway option. We saw several whales on our Juneau tour booked through Collette...On our own we did a Salmon Fishing tour through HA - I would advise people not to spend $500+ on that for 2 people until the Salmon are running - it was a disappointment as the fish did not even bite and a money grab...we had gone years before and it was fun - but that was in July - June it is not good.Show moreTrip date: June 2025Review collected by Collette

- AWilliam McHugh· November 7th, 2025The tour was fine until we started home.It took 30 hours from leaving the ship to getting home This is unacceptable for a group of senior citizens Half of the group and tour manager were able to fly out early afternoon Because one couple that was on the tour but not part of Kentucky Retired Teacher group had a 6:00 flight we were dumped at the airport at 3:00 for our midnight flight American Airline check in was not open so we had drag our luggage around the airport until 7:00 It just seems the Kentucky Retired Teacher group was at the bottom of the priority listShow moreTrip date: June 2025Review collected by Collette

Currently, only the inside cabin is available for the 30th of July. However, once you have placed your booking, they can check with the cruise company to see if an ocean or veranda cabin can be offered as they are on waitlist.

The Holland America Line's Nieuw Amsterdam cruise ship is a mid-sized ship with a length of 936 feet, a width of 105.8 feet, and a capacity for 2,106 passengers. There is a package offered called the 'Have it All' promotional offer includes a drink package, free wifi, shore excursions, specialty dining etc.
