- RDRosita· October 27th, 2024Visited many beautiful places. I particularly enjoyed Voltera and would have liked to spend one more niggt there. Romulus, our driver was amazing as was Daniele. There were many highlights not mentioned in the brochure such as the Theare of Silence. I particularly enjoyed the oul tasting. It would have been even better had we been able to see the actual harvesting. The cooking class was ok but it felt more like a demonstration and the food was very basic cooking. Il Pallagio, where the demonstration took place, really needs to be changed from the tour as no one in the group enjoyed staying there. My room was damp, smelly with mould on the ceiling. The shower was disgusting.Show more

So many great memories it's hard to name a highlight. As a traveller with Coeliac Disease though, eating safely is a huge challenge and Flavio took care of my meals in advance at every venue. The food was so much better than I had hoped for and I remained very well on the entire tour. It took us to the places we wanted to see, provided the experiences we were after, in a small group with friendly and expert assistance. However with Flavio as our guide, we were provided with even more than we expected: he taught us the language, suggested further activities and restaurants and ensured that we developed the passion for Italy that he has (as well as the passion for travelling). In our particular case, Flavio even organised medical assistance and took a trip in an ambulance to the hospital where he remained with us for several hours at night to act as our interpreter. For this we will be forever grateful. We cannot recommend Flavio highly enough. Always cheerful, ready with a joke or story and filled us in on 'local' practices and italian 'sign' language!! A real foodie which meant we often went to some cafe he knew about and he could organise a menu eg BIG T bone steaks! Responsible for my partner having the nick name 'Scooter'!! Flavio is so in love with his country, Italy that you can't help but fall in love with Italy also. Flavio uses his deep knowledge of the areas we travelled through, to really make the place come alive with his anecdotes and interesting history facts and informal snippets. He recommended several great restaurants and in Lucca, he suggested we attend the Puccini Festival, which was a highlight of our tour. He also negotiated a slightly cheaper ticket price for us as well. Flavio is always thinking of ways to add fun and humour to the trip. He kept us informed about points of interest and kept us to time while still allowing plenty of time to head off by ourselves and do our own thing. I'd take a tour with Flavio anytime.
