- LBlaszlo· October 4th, 2024Started well ended bad Our driver Rob a young but grossly overweight man kept the temperature in the bus cold all the time as he was sweating, while he only wore short sleeve shirt all passenger had 3 layers and coat on On the 8th day 12 out of the 18 were coughing and sneezing I took all precautions as I got weak immune system from cancer but fall ill as well so missed out on events plus on a world trip and now have to continue being sick it's simply unacceptable behaviour from a driver. I am a solo traveller and it is easy to feel left out with groups of couples but Emilie made sure I was part of the group when I wanted to be sociable, but was also happy for me to go off alone when I needed 'me time'. The small group was great (only 10) as was the mini-bus that allowed us to go into areas where a big bus could never go. Emilie was also flexible so there were unplanned stops for photos, and new places to see that weren't on the itinerary. All in all, this was a fabulous tour and I will be booking another Backroads tour again in the future.Show more

He did a great job showing us his country and gave us lots of information and history so we understood what we were seeing. The back roads were so scenic - so much better than taking the main roads, He really tried to make sure that everyone had a great trip. The villages that you explore aren't locked in as the tour leader will discuss the options with the group and go from there, but you are sure to see a few different ones! If there is a specific village you are hoping to see, you can request this with the tour leader on tour.

Asked on May 31st, 2025are you able to send pricing and availability for this tour, start date that would work is 16 September 25, 2 ladies mother and daughter - ages 60 and 86. Particularly interested in the Lakes District. Advise size of group and general age mix. Will there be lots of walking? Four star category or 3.5 star guide thanks.

The walking on the tour isn't strenuous, as or demogrphic is late 50s to 80s with usually an even split of male/females. There will be a few walking tours that will be there villages, these are taken at a slow pace and may go for 30-40 mins with plenty of stops for sightseeing and the guide to share some knowledge. Our accomodation is usually between a very good 3 star property to a lower priced 5 star with the majority being 4 star.
