Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    La Palma

You'll arrive at La Palma airport where an ASI representative meets you at baggage claim. Find your transfer to the hotel in the coach parking area if needed. Once you're settled into your room, meet your hiking guide at the hotel reception at 19:00 to have dinner together and go over what's coming up for the week.

    Dinner (Dinner at hotel reception)
  2. Day 2

    La Palma - South

Head south across the island to explore its volcanic history. You'll visit the Belmaco cave, an ancient dwelling that's now an open-air museum showing how indigenous people lived here long ago. From there, pass by the Volcan de San Antonio cone and hike to Teneguía volcano's southernmost point where a lighthouse has stood for over 100 years. Grab lunch and take a swim in the sea to cool off before heading back.

Breakfast, Lunch (Lunch by the sea), Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Visit Belmaco cave open-air museum
    • Hike to southernmost point of island at Teneguía

  3. Day 3

    La Palma - North

Drive inland into northern La Palma's rural landscape where you'll see small gorges and ancient dragon trees dotting the terrain. Stop at a charming rural restaurant for a meal featuring regional specialties and local flavors. The drive itself takes you through some of the island's most peaceful countryside, so it's worth taking time to just look around during the journey.

Breakfast, Lunch (Regional specialties at rural restaurant), Dinner
  4. Day 4

    La Palma - West

Explore the western side with two separate hikes. Start at Caldera de Taburiente National Park where you get views of an enormous crater. Then drive to Tazacorte and walk down an old royal path toward the sea, which gives you a view of the area affected by the 2021 volcanic eruption. Stop for a swim and try fresh fish at a seaside spot. On your way back, visit Tajogaite, Spain's youngest volcano from 2021, to see how volcanic forces completely reshaped the landscape.

The tour was amazing! Everything went smoothly and I could enjoy my hikings through La Gomera without having to worry about anything. Highly recommend and can't wait to start my next individual hiking tour!

The hikes were very well selected and organized. Even if you were not quite free from giddiness and could not go on a tour, our hiking guide Jorge always found an alternative, where you eventually met up with the group again. Jorge knew the island very well and could tell us a lot about its history and vegetation. He guided us safely and with prudence. Afterwards we always had lunch together, typical for the country and very tasty. Our hotel was centrally located and was pleasant and clean for the purpose of staying overnight. Only the pickup from the airport could be improved. We had to make several calls and wait over an hour until the bus driver finally picked us up and took us to the ferry. Apparently there was a staffing problem. Surely this can be better organized. Other than that, it was a very nice week of hiking.
