How do we wash and toilet in the desert as the brochure states that there are facilities when camping in the desert?

    • Penguin TravelOperatorWritten May 2025

You need to bring your sleeping bag or at least sleeping sheets. You will have a camping mattress and blankets provided. Domestic flights are included in the price. You will have to go to the toilet in the desert in the open. We recommend bringing wet wipes & biodegradable toiletries to use, as no shower amenities are available.

Approximately how many hours, each day, would we be spending in the 4 x 4s?

    • E

      Edward

      TravelerWritten May 2025

How is personal waste disposed of? Is it just left in the desert? Do we dig holes to dispose of it? How do we dispose of our wet wipes?

    • Penguin TravelOperatorWritten May 2025

Every day you can expect to spend 2-3 hours in the cars in the morning and 2-3 hours in the afternoon. Most of the days, you also have the option to walk some parts of the itinerary. If they are not biodegradable, it's best to bring a plastic bag to keep them in and throw them away in a bin when you reach back to Djanet.

    • Penguin TravelOperatorWritten May 2025

We still have availability for this trip. On domestic flights, you have 20kg checked luggage and 10 kg hand luggage. We recommend packing lightly so it's easier to put your bags on the cars. Usually everybody erects their own tent, but if you have issues the guides can help. Usually 3-4 or maximum 5 people per car. Most of the days you will start around 7-8 am. You will be at the camp place before dark.
