Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Kathmandu

    You'll arrive in Kathmandu and head to your hotel to settle in. The city has a particular spiritual quality with prayer flags and temples throughout, so take some time walking around to get a feel for the place. Dinner happens at the hotel this evening.

  2. Day 2

    Patan

    Start with Swayambhunath shrine, where you'll see the white stupa with Buddha's eyes looking over the valley. Then head to Kathmandu's Durbar Square to check out the pagoda temples and palaces. After lunch, you'll travel to Patan to see the Krishna Temple and Golden Temple, and visit the Tibetan Refugee Camp's handicraft centre. The evening is free back in Kathmandu.

  3. Day 3

    Bhaktapur

    Bhaktapur's Durbar Square and narrow alleys give you a chance to see local artisans working with cloth, wood, and clay. You'll join a pottery workshop to try making something yourself and taste the local Juju Dhau yoghurt. Back at the hotel you have free time, or can join an optional Aarti ceremony at Pashupatinath Temple.

    Kathmandu to Delhi

    You'll fly from Kathmandu to Delhi, India's capital. After arriving and checking into your hotel, there's a Welcome Dinner with your Travel Director and group this evening.

    Delhi

    Take a rickshaw through Old Delhi's busy streets to see the Red Fort, then navigate Chandni Chowk market. You'll visit Jama Masjid, one of India's largest mosques, pay respects at Raj Ghat where Gandhi is memorialized, and check out Agrasen Ki Baoli with its 103 stone steps. The afternoon is yours to relax or pursue optional activities.

    A guided walking tour starts with learning about the Salaam Baalak Trust's work with street children, then you'll walk through Paharganj bazaar. Head to New Delhi for Humayun's Tomb, grab lunch near India Gate, and tour the Qutub Minar complex. You'll pass through Lutyens' Delhi architecture on the way back. Afternoon is free or for optional activities.

    Fatehpur Sikri - Ranthambore

    Visit Agra Fort with its 17th-century royal rooms, then head to Fatehpur Sikri, the red sandstone city Emperor Akbar built in 1569 and abandoned when water became scarce. Grab lunch in Bharatpur, then board a train heading to Ranthambore for two nights.
