Arenas de Cabrales
You'll make your own way to Arenas de Cabrales in northern Spain. Once you arrive, get settled into your hotel and have dinner to kick things off for your hiking adventure.

- Day 2
Arenas de Cabrales
This morning you'll start with a peaceful hike on dirt tracks between Arenas and Poo de Cabrales. You can stick to the main route or extend to Col de Humones for views over the Cabrales valley. The walk covers roughly 10 km and takes around 4 hours total.

Arenas de Cabrales to Sotres
After a pickup from your hotel, you'll be transferred to Tielve (about 20 minutes, shared transfer). From there, you hike to Sotres, the highest village in Picos de Europa at 1,050 m. You'll pass through Valffrú where Queso de Cabrales is produced, then continue through old beech forests and heathland, hitting a high point of 1,240 m before descending into Sotres.

- Day 4
Sotres
A short transfer gets you to your starting point (about 10 minutes), then you'll do a circular hike through the eastern Andara massif of Picos de Europa. The rocky landscape here has old mine paths from the 19th century running through it. Watch for chamois in these rugged mountains. The hike is flexible so you can extend or shorten as you like.

- Day 5
Sotres
You'll climb into high altitude terrain to reach 2,000 m at the foot of Picu Urriellu. The famous summit sits another 500 m higher and draws rock climbers regularly. After taking in the views, you'll descend via the same route. A transfer gets you back to the starting point, from where you can either take a cab (not included) or walk back to Sotres.

Sotres
You have options for today's hike. Either explore forests and meadows near Treviso village, home to the endangered capercaillie, or trek through a glacial valley at 1,650 m where sheep, horses, and cows graze with vultures circling overhead.

Sotres to Arenas de Cabrales
Leaving Sotres, you'll climb to Pandebano at 1,245 m, then descend via an old footpath through meadows and sparse vegetation to Bulnes, a village only accessible on foot or by cable car (operating since 2001). You can either take the cable car to Poncebos or extend the hike through a gorge where vultures nest. Later, take the public bus (payable locally) back to your hotel in Arenas.
