  Beware. Although the tour starts in Lisbon, it takes you to zero Portuguese sites. Beware fancy galleries in Fez. The guide takes you there and it is very hard to get out without buying something expensive. The cities are great. Morocco is amazing. The Spanish overall guides were great, particularly Inez and Javier, but the local city guides varied a lot. Hotels were universally good, sometimes excellent. Going across on the ferry was cool. The food was mostly quite good, but there were a few bad meals. There were a lot of optional things, which were not included. In Ronda, even the local tour was not included.Show more

Regarding your comment about the tour starting in Lisbon, we would like to clarify that the itinerary indeed specifies departure from Lisbon, but it does not include sightseeing activities in Portugal. As detailed in the program: 1st Day (Saturday) LISBON – CÁCERES – SEVILLE (575 km) Departure from Lisbon at 7:30 a.m. towards the border with Spain and to the region of Extremadura, arrival to Caceres. Therefore, the starting point is Lisbon, but the sightseeing portion of the tour begins in Spain, as clearly stated in the official itinerary. We regret any confusion this may have caused and take note of your comments regarding the optional activities and local establishments, as we continuously strive to improve our travelers’ experience.   Overall, I recommend this tour and it's a great value but it can be improved with the following comments: 1- The tour starts in Lisbon but there is no visiting taking place there and the travelers are taken to Seville, Spain directly. I think the intention is that the travelers visit Lisbon on their own so make sure to arrive in Lisbon a few days earlier in case if you're interested to explore the city yourself. 2- The tour communications and timing should be improved. For example, I had to wait for about an hour to be picked up at start point because the driver didn't know I had to be picked up! Also, on the way back to Spain from Morocco, the tour guide didn't stop for lunch and got to the next destination at about 4pm without having anything to eat! When I protested to her, she said that this is an instruction that was given to her. 3- The information provided by tour guide in Fes, Morocco was not entirely correct and I had to correct him when he mentioned that Algorithm was discovered in the Al-Qarawiyin school. Also, he stopped in the shops that I am not sure if it was in the best interest of travelers. 4- The driver on the way back to Spain from Morocco didn't know that much English so it was challenging to communicate with him at times. 5- The accomodation was better than expected and all hotels were good quality.Show more

  Meticulously planned and executed... when there were 3 different subcontractors doing tours, we enjoyed each locations. Pros: Morocco tour was highlight, we were super relaxed and well informed throughout... I could easily give 6 out of 5 to them. Driver/guide went over and above to make sure we know history, gastronomy and culture - even arranged local bytes everywhere he could. Strait crossing handover between travel agencies was executed super smoothly ? Last part of the tour was done in private car, not bad, ex-teacher driving us and giving history lessons enroute was amazing. Made real good friend from Australia, perfect takeaway from tour. Cons: Bus during first part of tour was super noisy and uncomfortable, rarely got what guide explained. Once off bus, we can feel how much we missed out, as guide were knowledgeable. Human factor was missing.... tour was cultural tour, but people on tour weren't introduced to each-others or encouraged to eat at same table to get familiar. So, we got to know everything and everyone except other people traveling with us.Show more

  Great tour to get around and see everything quickly, but no free time to explore any of the areas we were in and the luxurious hotels we were staying in, we arrived late and checked out early without getting to use any facilities. Motels and hostels would have been more appropriate.Show more

  There are a few things that could've been done better, but the overall was okay. Some of the tour operator guides were not organized or get flustered with such large groups. The optional added activities were nice. For the shopping on the tours, the guides only took you to stores or even restaurants where they got some type of kick back or comission which they should give us the choice where we want to shop and maybe have those as options. Also the tour operator did not drop us off at the end of the tour to the tour office as stated in itinerary. We had to get off stops where other people continued their trip. They should have had a set location to drop people off at the end of the tour. Also, it may be beneficial to the tour operator is they had smaller groups. Overall, people were nice for the most part.Show more

  I signed up for 3 days in Portugal 3 days in Spain and 3 days in Morocco. Without knowing it was 6 day in Spain and three in Morocco. Very disappointed ! It was very difficult with tipping as we had three tour leaders and many locals I’ve never had this happen in my 20 years of world wide travels . Never againShow more

  Overall a good value and strong itinerary. Friendly competent guides and local experts- especially in Côrdoba, Granada, and Toledo. Some of the hand-offs between guides during regional transitions were altogether lacking, primarily from Morocco back to Spain. It would have been nice if the Moroccan tour company Mundinmaroc had substituted an excursion to Chafchouen from the first day in Tangier instead of Meknes- which is presently largely inaccessible due to renovations. It was an unpleasant surprise having to tip each performance group at the optional handsomely priced dinner show in Fes. Our tour through Medina left of little freedom of choice on where and with whom to shop. Separately, please considered including gratuities in the fixed price to spare guests from being unexpectedly taxed and distracted or better prepare guests in advance. Many of the hotels and meals were excellent. On our trip, the accomodations in Fes which has a very striking lobby and pools, was unacceptable (we experienced no to limited access to in-room hot water and internet- including a room change. The hotel hasunsecure and spottyl internet and unreliable electricity throughout property. We witnessed multiple altercations between staff and customers. It was problematic that hotel did not accept credit cards for in restaurant and incidental purchases and had no ATM. The in-house "bank desk" offered significantly poor exchange rates. Most of the amenities at this property were limited or all together shuttered. It suffered some grounds maintenance issues- trash, wear, undisposed dead birds, weeds,deteriorating hardscape) the sum experience being unacceptable. The shuttle service from Tangier to Fes was led by a very friendly and knowledgeable local driver who was impressively equally competent in multiple languages. The shuttle van however us under sized for our group especially for the long drive. The route took us through some very scenic seaside vistas which would have made for a nice lunch had we known not to eat on the ferry over. A brief stop for photos amongst the sunflower fields would have made for a memorable experience. It also went through some very rough intensely trafficked, areas. We had the misfortune of serious mechanical problems on our return ferry back to Terrifa from Tangier resulting in violent turbulence causing many if not most passengers to suffer significant motion sickness. While this was clearly not in our guide's purview she made no effort to check on tour participants, offer resources to ailing guests, neither leading us thru barkation nor from debarkation through customs to our receiving guide. Fortunately our previous outgoing guide had done such a great job we were at least familiar with the route back. Beyond Morocco… The excursion in Córdoba was was spectacular, the hotel sub par, the dinner awful with surly dinner attendants. We took a self guided walking tour back to the illuminated Roman Bridge at night which seems could have been a very nice addition to the itinerary. Advance communication with accommodation details, available excursions, suggested sites to explore indepently, and advance notice on having small bills and lots of 5 Dirham coins in Morocco would have been helpful. It also would have been nice if the first guided had contacted us on the first day with an introduction and instructions on how to locate our group amongst the several tour companies departing at the same time and look cation in Lisbon. A running communication from VPT during guide transitions with an introduction, photo, and contact info would have been beneficial. The final drop off was also a little abrupt. We were fortunate to be familiar with the city of Madrid and ended up helping several somewhat stunned guests make their way to their next destination. We did enjoy ourselves, met many wonderful people from across the globe, and got experience some of the worlds greatest cultural and architectural sites all for a very fair price. Thank you.Show more

  It was like a hop-on hop-off tour, so you get a new tour guide in each area you go to along with new people on the tour. So it's always new people and you don't build many friendships like the other tours I've been on. It's not very English-friendly like the other reviews mentioned. There was a constant miscommunication regarding times and expectations and was very hard to get information on suggestions during our free time. And am often met with annoyance when we are trying to clarify, the worst is when different people in our group get different information and don't even know what to follow. The hotels were pretty good, and there was a lot of free time, I do prefer more of a tour that tries to take you to more sites with more explanation than just getting to a location I've never been to and dropped off. So I do feel that I went all the way to these places and missed a few things key because I didn't know what to see or do on my own in the city. If I knew I would have done more research to maximize the little time I had there.Show more

Logically when visiting three countries in the same tour, there are changes of guides and buses. All clients do not make the same itinerary, we give the possibility of splitting it, that is why the same clients do not always travel.
