Accra
This is your full day to explore Accra's main sites. You'll start with Independence Square and see the Flame of Africa, lit back in 1961. Then you'll head to Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to check out the museum there. The National Culture Centre is next, where you'll find West Africa's largest outdoor art and craft market. After that, walk through historic James Town to see the British-built lighthouse. Before the day ends, you'll visit the Brazil House to learn about the Afro-Brazilian families who settled here in 1836.

Accra to Cape Coast
You'll travel 2.5 hours in an air-conditioned 4x4 heading to Cape Coast, with a snack stop along the way. Once there, you'll tour Cape Coast Castle, a former slave fort that the Portuguese originally built back in 1555. Later, you'll head to Elmina Castle, which is the oldest European building south of the Sahara from 1482. The day wraps up at Fort St Jago, a small Portuguese chapel and military structure that protected Elmina.

Kakum National Park
Kakum National Park is your destination for the morning. You'll walk through the forest looking for birds, butterflies, monkeys, and possibly forest elephants. The afternoon is yours to do what you like - relax at the nearby beach or try out optional activities back at the hotel if something interests you.

Cape Coast to Kumasi
You'll drive 4.5 hours to Kumasi and make a detour to the Obuasi gold mine, one of the world's richest gold deposits. After that, you'll visit Slave River where captured Africans bathed before slavery. Then you'll explore the Ashanti craft villages: Ahwiaa for wood carvings, Ntonso for hand-stamped Adinkra textiles where you can learn to make black dye and create your own sash, and Bonwire for traditional Kente cloth weaving. The day ends at Kumasi Central Market, West Africa's largest open-air market with over 10,000 vendors.

Kumasi
Today centers on the Manhiya Palace, the former home of Ashanti kings that now operates as a museum. You'll see treasures from the kingdom and get a look at the Okomfo Sword, an object that's symbolized Ashanti unity for three centuries.

Kumasi to Mole National Park
You'll drive 6 hours from Kumasi with a stop at Kintampo Waterfalls, one of Ghana's highest waterfalls at about 70 meters, cascading down the Pumpum River. The atmosphere is festive with shaded picnic areas surrounded by mahogany trees. From there, you'll continue to Mole National Park, Ghana's largest wildlife refuge on grassland savanna. You'll arrive in the evening, have dinner, and stay overnight.

Mole National Park to Accra
You'll start early with a two-hour morning game drive through Mole National Park on the grassland savanna, and depending on the season, you might spot elephants. The park's rivers create drinking holes, particularly in dry season. Then you'll drive one hour to Tamale to catch your flight back to Accra. After you arrive, you'll transfer to your hotel for dinner and your final night.

Landmarks Mole National Park - Day 9
Accra
Pickup happens at 8 am after breakfast. Drive about an hour to Cedo Beads where you can watch how beads are produced. Then continue to Shai Hills Resource Reserve for roughly two hours of guided hiking to the ancestral caves of the Shai people. You'll have chances to spot Kobs, Olive baboons, monkeys, and various birds along the way.
