Florence to Montecatini Terme
You'll arrive in Florence and drive yourself to your hotel in Montecatini Terme. Take the evening to settle in, get your bearings, and relax after your travels. There's no scheduled activities, so use the time to unpack and explore your immediate surroundings if you feel up to it.

Florence
You'll meet your tour guide and take the train to Florence, heading straight into one of Italy's greatest art centers. The old town shows off Renaissance buildings everywhere you look. Start at Santa Maria Novella, the Gothic church, then make your way to the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore to see that famous dome up close. You'll find Michelangelo's David at Piazza della Signoria, and from there head to Ponte Vecchio for views down the Arno River below.

Pisa
Train takes you to Pisa where you'll spend time at Campo dei Miracoli, the 'Square of Miracles'. The Leaning Tower is there, along with the Cathedral and the Camposanto cemetery filled with decorative monuments, sculptures, and frescoes covering the walls. It's one of those Tuscan stops you really shouldn't skip when you're in the region.

Montecatini Terme
Today you have options depending on what appeals to you. Spend the day relaxing in Montecatini Terme's thermal baths if you want to unwind, or head to Florence for a guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery to see works by Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. Either way, you'll have time to enjoy the day at your own pace.

Siena
Drive to Siena and walk through this beautiful medieval city. You'll see Gothic architecture throughout the historic old town and check out the cathedral, which has a nice mosaic interior. After that, head to Piazza del Campo to sit and take in the views of the distinctive black and white striped bell tower. It's a great spot to grab lunch and watch the piazza come to life.

Lucca
You arrive in Lucca by train and explore this walled town on foot. The city wall here is the largest one completely preserved in Europe, so you can walk along it and get a real sense of how the place was laid out centuries ago. Inside the walls, you'll see the Cathedral of San Martino and the Church of San Michele in Forno, plus an old amphitheater that's now a marketplace. The rest of the day is yours to wander the narrow streets without a set schedule.

Volterra
Start your day at the Basilica of San Piero a Grado where frescoes tell the story of St. Peter's life across the centuries. From there you'll travel through small-town Tuscany and typical countryside to San Gimignano, known for its towers. Fourteen medieval towers from the 1300s still stand in the town, and you'll have time to walk through and see them. Later, you'll do a wine tasting at a vineyard outside town, then finish with an Italian dinner that has views back toward San Gimignano.
