In your European Wonderland tour, do we ever ride in a train through the Alps? If not, my husband has always wanted to ride on something like the Bernina Express. Would there be enough free time for us to take an hour or two ride from where we would be in Switzerland or even in the alps in Italy?

The tour itinerary does not include a train ride through the Alps, so you won't be on the Bernina Express or similar rail journeys as part of the tour. The Bernina Express itself is a spectacular UNESCO-listed route between Chur (Switzerland) and Tirano (Italy), but it takes about 4 hours one way (plus connections), so unfortunately, it's not something you could realistically fit into a 1–2-hour window during free time on the tour.

Does this tour operate in the shoulder season? September or May?

Overall it was a fantastic experience for my 12 year old grandson and I. I had no idea how much walking there would be which was a challenge for me. Our guide John Horvath was amazing. Informative, patient and personable. All right up until we got to London where I felt we got dumped. The guide on our morning tour of London, Peppa, I think was sarcastic, arrogant and mean. He did get us to the highlights efficiently but other than that he was awful. He gave me completely wrong information connecting to my optional tour and if I hadn't decided to check in with London tour center, my grandson and I would never have found the bus. Roxie the consultant at the hotel was wonderful however. I also have to say I spent a lot of extra money on optional tours to get the full experience. It was a very well organzed tour that didn't waste a minute. It is an experience my grandson and I will never forget. A taste of Europe!Show more

Overall the tour was great! Saw and experienced many amazing places and things. I was slightly disappointed in the included meals. Though they were good quality and more than enough food, I wish there were more personal choices available. I don’t like pork or seafood, and was looking forward to some amazing pastas in Italy, but didn’t realize pork and ham was such a common ingredient in the north and it was a part of most meals. I was also looking forward to caprese salad and tiramisu, and while tiramisu was served once, we had a chocolate mousse on three different occasions. Again-it wasn’t a quality or quantity issue, but if you don’t care for the local specialty, you will be left disappointed. Tour guide Bern was amazing and definitely knew how to maneuver us around so that we could see the most places with the least amount of hassle. She’s a pro!Show more
