I loved Scotland but I'll never book another tour on tour radar or use CIE. When I booked it was very important that the group tour be small- a maximum of 26 guests. I showed up and there were 41 guests rather than the guaranteed 26! It was a completely different trip dynamic. I was very disappointed. I'll leave it at that.

Tour, guide, and driver were all excellent. My complaint is that you advertised the tour as having a maximum of 26 people. We had 42 people on our tour. They were very nice people and I enjoyed meeting them, but this was not as advertised and is misleading. Did you charge more for a smaller group?

Overall, the experience was good and generally met expectations. There were issues with getting to Isle of Skye, which seemed to be related to not a big enough Ferry to accommodate the motorcoach. This was a great disappointment. It seems this issue could have been prepared for in advance, as this tour has been ongoing. I would have liked to had a more time-lined, detailed itinerary upon arrival and available at our initial meeting collectively as a tour group. The Guide "Perri" was very knowledgeable of the history and points of interest in Scotland. She was able to adequately answer questions and provide information. But, I felt she "guided" very little and I believe we only used the "talk boxes" 3 times during the course of entire trip. There was more of an emphasis on self-guidance if at all possible. The Guide was adequate, but I've certainly had much more attentive, engaging Guides who seemed more enthusiastic and interestede in their tour group.

I had a wonderful time in Scotland! Perri, CIE tour director, was knowledgeable about the history of each area we passed through. She shared not only history, but also local lore and faerie stories. Many had us laughing and, on occasion, groaning. Our driver, Francis, maneuvered the bus around tight turns with expertise. For the most part the hotel meals were very good as long as you steered clear of the overcooked chicken breasts.

    • CIE ToursOperatorWritten March 2025

If you have dietary restrictions, we can put in a request on your booking. While hotels throughout Europe offer a wide variety of foods, we cannot guarantee all requests and it is a good idea to double check once you are in your tour hotel. A full hot breakfast with a wide variety of selections is included at your hotel each morning. Lunch is sometimes included, but more often you will be at leisure to go where you like. Many dinners are included where you will eat with your group either in the hotel or at a local restaurant. All included dinners are three-course meals with a choice of appetizer, entrée and dessert, with tea or coffee included. Most hotels and restaurants feature a good assortment of poultry, meat, fish and vegetarian options and you will be given choices at all meals. Depending on your meal and the tour, wine or beer may be included or will be available for purchase. For lunches or dinners where you will be dining independently, your Tour Director can give you tips on options in your location.
