Antananarivo to Antsirabe
Head out early for Antsirabe through the Central Highlands. You'll see rice fields and red laterite brick houses as you travel along winding roads with small waterfalls and terraced landscapes. Stop in Ambatolampy to check out the aluminium foundry and pottery workshops. Later you'll arrive in Antsirabe and explore the town by rickshaw, visiting thermal baths, gemstone cutters, and zebu horn maker workshops.

Antsirabe to Ambositra
After breakfast, you'll visit two lakes near Antsirabe. Start with Tritriva, a beautiful lake at the bottom of a large volcano crater with clear blue waters and walking trails that offer different viewpoints. Then head to Andraikiba, a large crater lake with surrounding tracks and souvenir shops. You'll have lunch at a restaurant, then drive to Ambositra, the center of Malagasy craft work. Spend the afternoon exploring woodcarving and marquetry workshops and shops.

Ambositra to Fianarantsoa
After breakfast, depart for Fianarantsoa with a short stop at a reserve where you can spot lemur species. Arrive late morning, check in at your hotel, and have lunch. Use the afternoon to discover the city and visit local companies including car makers and wine producers.

Fianarantsoa to Manakara
Very early breakfast before your 07:00 train departure. You'll travel through lush landscapes to Manakara by train, and at stops you'll see villagers selling local specialties. Get off at Sahasinaka station and visit the Faraony waterfall (40m high). Later you'll continue by car to Manakara and transfer to your hotel.

- Day 6
Manakara
After breakfast, head to the pier for a day trip by dugout canoe on the Pangalanes waterway to a fishermen's village. You'll visit a vanilla plantation and an essential oil distillery. Your boat person and guide will prepare a picnic lunch on site. Return to Manakara in the afternoon for a city discovery and beach walk.

Manakara to Vangaindrano
After breakfast, travel along state road 12 towards Vangaindrano, starting your discovery of eastern Madagascar. Pass through Vohipeno, the capital of Arab descendants and origin of the Antemoro ethnic group with its Islamic culture and royal houses. Arrive in Vangaindrano for overnight.

Vangaindrano to Sandravinany
Early morning departure after breakfast heading towards Sandravinany through arid and desert plains of southern Madagascar. You'll discover plantations of cloves and coffee along the way as you travel through the humid Southeast climate with its rich forest. Arrive at Sandravinany by day's end.

Sandravinany to Fort-Dauphin
Early morning departure to catch the sunrise. You'll travel through varied landscapes and climates, from humid Southeast forest to arid desert plains. Arrive in Fort-Dauphin mid-afternoon and settle into your hotel.

Fort-Dauphin
After breakfast, discover the Fort Flacourt museum and stroll on Libanona beach, the only beach in town. In the afternoon, take a half-day excursion to Nahampoana reserve where you can see several lemur species. Return to your hotel by day's end.

Fort-Dauphin to Andohahela National Park
Early breakfast before departing to Andohahela National Park (76,020 hectares). This park has three distinct ecosystems: dense tropical rainforest in the east, semi-arid dry forest in the west, and a transition zone between. You'll discover 13 lemur species, 65 bird species, unique plants including medicinal species, and endemic palm varieties. Optional 4WD visits to three park mountains available. Overnight at the lodge.

Andohahela to Berenty Reserve
Depart for the private Berenty reserve in the middle of a sisal plantation. You'll travel through dense vegetation featuring carnivorous Nepenthes plants. Climb the Ranopiso pass through the Anosy mountain range to discover the lush semi-arid landscape of the Great South. After lunch and settling into the lodge, explore the reserve and join a guided evening tour to see nocturnal lemurs.

Landmarks Berenty reserve - Day 13
Berenty to Cape Sainte Marie
Early breakfast before departing for Cape Sainte Marie (Tanjona Vohimena), Madagascar's southernmost point. You'll pass through small villages and sisal plantations. The cape is 62 km from Tsihombe where the Indian Ocean meets the Mozambique Channel. Discover sandy beaches, dunes, calm lagoons separated by black reef barriers, and a working lighthouse. Arrive mid-afternoon and settle into camp.

Cape Sainte Marie
After breakfast, visit the Cape Sainte Marie special reserve to explore cliffs, dwarf vegetation, and marine biodiversity. The reserve protects radiata turtles in their natural environment (roughly 3,000 per square kilometer). You'll see traces of the extinct elephant bird Aepyornis maximus, with whole eggs and shell pieces still visible in sand dunes. In early afternoon, travel to the village of Lavanono.

Lavanono to Itampolo
Very early breakfast before a long day on track to reach Itampolo. You'll travel across wide open spaces where Didiereaceae, Euphorbiaceae and Aloe plants grow. This road crossing through the landscape promises to be one of your most memorable Madagascar experiences.

Itampolo to Anakao
Early breakfast before driving to Anakao. The track is dotted with baobabs and beautiful examples of Malagasy funerary art. Stop at Ambola village to visit Tsimanampetsotsa park with pink flamingo colonies, mysterious blind cave fish, dense xerophilic forest, thousand-year-old baobabs, and the unique salt lake (Madagascar's only one and 5th largest lake). The lake changes color three times daily due to lime sulfate concentration. Continue to Anakao, a fishing village on the Mozambique Channel.

Anakao
Free day without scheduled transportation in Anakao. You can choose from various activities: sailing pirogue trips to Nosy Ve pirate island to see straw bird nests, water sports like kitesurfing or snorkeling, beach relaxation, or visit the fishermen's village to meet locals. The fishermen's return creates an interesting daily spectacle you can watch.

Anakao to Tulear
After breakfast, transfer by boat to Tulear. Your car will be waiting at the pier. The afternoon is free to visit the Tulear museum, shop, discover the city and local market.

Tulear to Antananarivo
After breakfast, transfer to the airport and fly to Madagascar's capital, Antananarivo. You'll enjoy lunch at a restaurant. Later explore the city center and watch the sunset from the panoramic viewpoint of the upper town. Check into your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Landmarks Antananarivo - Day 20
Antananarivo
After breakfast, travel on national road RN3 to visit the Royal Palace at Ambohimanga Rova. Stop at Padre Pio Charity House, which cares for autistic children and young people (supported by the tour operator). Optionally explore Malagasy handicrafts at the dam market depending on your flight schedule. Have a free dinner and team meeting in the evening. Day use hotel and transfer to airport for your departure flight home.
