Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Kilimanjaro Airport to Arusha

    You'll get picked up at Kilimanjaro International Airport and taken to Arusha town. After settling in, there's dinner at the hotel where you'll spend the night.

  2. Day 2

    Arusha National Park

    This morning you head to Arusha National Park for a full day that combines safari driving with a walking portion. You'll see buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and baboons around Ngurdo Crater with an armed ranger accompanying the walking section. Lunch happens at a picnic spot, then you return to Arusha by afternoon.

  3. Day 3

    Arusha to Monduli Mountains

    A 2-hour drive takes you to the Monduli Mountains where the Maasai Tribe lives. You'll stay at a base camp overlooking the Rift Valley with views of Kilimanjaro, Meru, and Ol Donyo Lengai. After arriving, spend the afternoon walking around the area or relaxing with the views. Local guides lead you through Maasai culture, traditional homes, and you'll sleep under the stars at the camp.

  4. Day 4

    Monduli to Lake Eyasi

    Morning trekking continues in the Monduli Mountains, then you drive to Lake Eyasi in the afternoon. At Hadzabe camp you'll learn how the Bushman community lives traditionally, see their bush homes, and if interested, observe traditional hunting methods. The night is spent under canvas at the Lake Eyasi Campsite.

  5. Day 5

    Lake Natron

    Several walks explore the Lake Natron area. You'll walk across mud flats to see flamingos and get views of the active Oldoinyo Lengai volcano. Later, trekking goes up to Engero Sero Waterfalls through a shady gorge with river crossings that lead to a natural swimming pool surrounded by rock walls and palm trees. You'll stay overnight at Kamakia camp.

    Lake Natron to Mto wa Mbu

    After Lake Natron activities, the drive takes you to Mto wa Mbu, an oasis at the Rift Valley's base. You'll walk through green farms, climb Balaa Hill for panoramic views, check out Miweleni Lake and waterfall, and learn about local irrigation systems and tribal cultures in the area. Dinner and overnight happen at Panorama camp overlooking the Great Rift Valley.

    You visit a traditional Maasai boma to see how this tribe lives. A guided tour includes meeting local Maasai people, watching traditional tattoo painting, and trying your hand at milking cattle. Canoeing is part of the day before you drive back to Arusha in the late afternoon.
