Dear Muhammad, Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review of your Five Stans journey. We truly appreciate the depth of your feedback and the balanced way in which you highlighted both the strengths of the trip and the areas where improvements can be made. We are very pleased to hear that you found the tour exceptionally well organised overall, especially given the complexity of covering multiple countries, cultures, and landscapes within a limited timeframe. It is rewarding to know that the balance between history, culture, nature, architecture, and free time worked well for you, and that the comfort and location of most hotels enhanced your experience. At the same time, we sincerely appreciate your constructive comments regarding transportation, guiding continuity, and comfort during longer journeys. Your observations about vehicle legroom, the challenges of overland crossings, and the need for more rest after demanding travel days are all very valid, and these points are already being carefully reviewed for future departures. We also take note of your suggestion to prioritise hotels with lifts or easier access, especially for travellers who may find stairs challenging. Your feedback on guiding was especially valuable. We are delighted to hear your positive remarks about Jabar in Turkmenistan, Nursultan in Kyrgyzstan, and Amir in Tajikistan, and we will be sure to pass along your kind words to them. At the same time, we acknowledge your concerns regarding inconsistencies in guiding quality, language proficiency, and itinerary deviations in some locations. These are important points, and we are addressing them internally through additional guide briefings, clearer programme alignment, and improved communication between guides and operations teams. We also appreciate your thoughtful cultural feedback, particularly regarding the use of Arabic terms without English explanations, and the desire for more balanced historical and contextual discussions. This is very helpful insight and something we will incorporate into our guide training to ensure explanations are accessible and informative for an international audience. Your comments on Turkmenistan — including the intensity of travel, the challenges of border crossings, and the question of routing options — are especially valuable for future itinerary design. While this destination remains unique and logistically complex, your suggestions will help us refine pacing and offer clearer expectations to travelers. Despite the challenges you noted, we are grateful that you still found the journey rich, rewarding, and memorable. Central Asia is a region of immense diversity and complexity, and feedback like yours plays a crucial role in helping us continuously improve the experience for future guests. Thank you once again for traveling with us and for sharing such honest and constructive insights. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again on another journey — perhaps with an even more refined and comfortable itinerary. Warm regards, Olga Central Asia Travel

Dear Tennille, Thank you very much for your review and for traveling with us on the Five Stans journey. We’re happy to know you enjoyed the overall organization, variety of experiences, and the professionalism of our team — especially Gulshat and Sultan, who truly appreciate your kind words. We also wanted to let you know that we’ve since discussed your feedback with our regional partners and guides to ensure even smoother coordination and better consistency in service across all countries. Your comments about vehicle comfort and hotel selection have also been reviewed, and several improvements have already been made for our 2025 departures. We completely agree that an overnight stay at the gas crater would make the experience even more special — this option remains under consideration for future itineraries. Thank you again for your trust and for helping us grow. We hope your memories of Central Asia stay warm and bright, and we’d be delighted to welcome you again one day! Kindly also advise visa requirements for italian passport holders.

    • Central Asia Travel LPOperatorWritten January 2026

Below, I'm sending you visa information for Central Asian countries for Italian citizens:

Turkmenistan - visa invitation + visa on arrival
      Uzbekistan - visa-free
      Tajikistan - visa-free
      Kyrgyzstan - visa-free
      Kazakhstan - visa-free

So, you will need a Turkmenistan visa only.

A Turkmenistan visa can be obtained upon arrival at Ashgabat Airport or at a land border checkpoint (payment on the spot: approximately $100–$120 per person + PCR test fee of $42 per person). However, a visa is issued based on a visa invitation approved by the Turkmenistan Migration Service, and we will assist you with this process.

To proceed, we will need the following documents from you:

      • A scanned color copy of your passport (high quality)
      • A recent passport-sized photo (we will share a sample)
      • A completed application form (we will share a sample)
*Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your departure from the region. If you plan to change your passport before arrival, you may send it later, when it is ready.

We will submit the visa invitation request for the entire group 30 days before your arrival in Ashgabat. The approval process takes approximately three weeks. Once the visa invitation is ready, we will send you a scanned copy, which you will need to print and present to immigration officials upon arrival to obtain your visa.

On this trip, on day 13, it is mentioned a visit to the Charyn canyon. Do we get to do a short hike in the Canyon? We are very keen on the outdoor activities in nature like the lakes, gorges etc and I want to know how much time we get to explore these places. Please can you give me a better idea of activities / time available to see nature rather than all the museums and history.

I also saw that you have a 19 day trip that looks good but am I right in saying it does not include the Darvaza crates?

Do you assist with the visas and border crossings.

    • Central Asia Travel LPOperatorWritten January 2026

There will be walking activities in Charyn Canyon, as well as in several locations in Kyrgyzstan, and also on the day trip to Tajikistan.

    • Central Asia Travel LPOperatorWritten January 2026

You are also absolutely right regarding our 19-day tour — it is a very good option as well. This itinerary is more relaxed, includes more nature, and offers additional walking opportunities and free time. Please note that Darvaza is not included in this program by default; however, we can organize it as an optional extension on Day 19 (Darvaza round-trip). In this case, the departure would be scheduled for Day 20.

Seems you should know if the tour operator takes care of a Turkmenistan Visa since you need an invite from a tour operator to obtain one!

    • Central Asia Travel LPOperatorWritten January 2026

It is not too late to obtain a Turkmenistan visa invitation for this tour. We usually submit the documents approximately one month before the tour starts, which fits perfectly with the current timeline. To proceed, we will need the following documents from you: A scanned color copy of your passport (high quality), A recent passport-sized photo, A completed application form. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your departure from the region. We will submit the visa invitation request for the entire group 30 days before your arrival in Ashgabat. The approval process takes approximately three weeks. Once the visa invitation is ready, we will send you a scanned copy, which you will need to print and present to immigration officials upon arrival to obtain your visa.

What type of accomodations do you provide for the entire trip? Can you give an example of a hotel. 3star, 4 star or 5 star?

    Accommodation
    • Central Asia Travel LPOperatorWritten January 2026

For this tour, we offer accommodation in 3* hotels throughout the itinerary. Only in Ashgabat the accommodation will be in a 4* hotel. Unfortunately, it is not possible to change the hotel category, as the entire group must stay in the same hotel in each location.
