  Tour guide was knowledgeable and funny. Bus driver very good. Food was ok, but not very accommodating for vegetarians. Tour designed to accommodate those who signed up for optional experiences (profit driven). When our morning tour of Madrid finished, those not taking optional tour had to take a taxi back to the hotel. Would have nice to know in advance, as our bags were on the bus. We were told taxi fee would be reimbursed, reminded tour director following day, but never received.Show more

We offer optional activities if you want to explore as much as possible. If you prefer to experience a destination independently, you can choose to spend time shopping, sightseeing or relaxing at the pool. The options are endless. While you are out exploring, our Coach Drive will take care of your luggage and deliver it to your hotel room. We have taken note of your comment about reimbursement.   If your looking for a deep insight into the culture and history, than this is the tour to do with the added optional experiences. As individuals traveling on your own in Spain it would be difficult to have the depth of experiences without a tour. Trafalgar guides and driver were professional and expertise excellent. A good mix of free time, hotel locations often close to good shopping. Large country to cover so be prepared for sitting on the coach for a few hours most days.Show more

  Just about everything was really good. However, not being able to visit the Alhambra was a major disappointment. It was was one of the main reasons for me to go on this tour. I had been looking forward to seeing it for a long time. I hope you adjust future trip information to reflect the fact that there is a good chance it will not be possible to secure tickets for it.Show more

  Thank you for sharing feedback about your time on the Highlights of Spain and Portugal guided holiday, as this first-hand insight is very important to us. While we are pleased to read that you enjoyed your trip overall, it does, however, concern us to hear that there were certain aspects of your trip that you felt could have been improved upon. We certainly understand the disappointment in not being able to visit the Alhambra Palace. It is important to note how difficult at times it can be to obtain tickets for the Alhambra Palace. It sells a maximum of 8000 tickets a day, as per UNESCO rules. From that amount of tickets, only certain amounts are allowed to be sold to groups and agencies, and the rest need to be sold to individuals. We do request our tickets in advance, however as our group sizes can vary in size if we request more tickets than are needed, the Alhambra Association can and will decide to give us none, at all. Please note, that 80% of the time we do secure tickets for our groups, however unfortunately in this groups’ case, it was one of the off times when we were unable to secure tickets. When tickets are not able to be obtained, we do substitute the visit with another popular attraction. Still, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. With that said, we remain hopeful that your time away with us was otherwise uplifting and for the chance to restore your full trust in Trafalgar in the future.

  Plus: The Tour Director was excellent, well-organized, patient, understanding, and always willing to compromise to accommodate members of the group. I would give her a 10+. Overall: The tour was excellent Itinerary: I would have preferred perhaps one additional day in Portugal (driving north and, after fatima - perhaps Oporto?). Transportation: We had an air conditioning problem which was taken care of in the shortest possible delay. Accommodation: One hotel had smaller rooms - location?, but the rest of them were excellent. Meals: Farewell supper had steak included, unfortunately, it was not cooked as requested and the quality was poor - some guests mentioned that the alternative (Salmon) was very good.Show more

There is a huge amount of driving but I cannot see how this would be avoided with the distances required to travel . The optional tours are a must . Sintra was our favourite .
