Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Kathmandu

    Your representative meets you at Kathmandu's airport and handles the arrival process. From there, you'll get transferred to your hotel where you can settle in and freshen up. The rest of the day is yours to wander around the nearby area at your own pace and get oriented.

  2. Day 2

    Kathmandu

    After breakfast, you'll take a guided tour of Kathmandu's major sites. The day covers Swayambhunath Temple on the hilltop with its monkeys, the large Boudhanath Stupa, the sacred Pashupatinath Temple, and finishes at Kathmandu Durbar Square. Later in the evening, your guide meets with you to go over the trekking plans ahead.

  3. Day 3

    Chutanga

    You'll fly to Lukla at 2,800 m/9,186 ft in about 40 minutes. Once you collect your luggage and meet your trekking crew, the trek begins through the Khumbu valley. The first day takes roughly 4 hours on foot to reach Chutanga at 3,475 m/11,401 ft for acclimatization.

  4. Day 4

    Chutanga

    This day stays at Chutanga to let your body adjust to the 3,475 m elevation. You can take short walks around the lodge to help with acclimatization, and your guide will give you tips on handling the altitude. Nothing strenuous, just local movement to help your body adapt.

  5. Day 5

    Chutanga to Thuli Kharka

    Today you trek higher by crossing Zatra La Pass at 4,600 m/15,092 ft. You should expect snow, ice, and cold temperatures on the pass. Crampons and climbing gear may be needed for the ascent. After crossing, there's a steep climb to reach Thuli Kharka's pasture fields for the night.

  6. Day 6

    Thuli Kharka to Kothe

    The trek heads toward Kothe village after breakfast. You'll cross three hill ridges with views above the Hinku river, then climb through thick rhododendron forests where Mera Peak might come into sight if weather cooperates. The later sections are steep and wooded with waterfalls before reaching Kothe and its stone-built lodges.

  7. Day 7

    Kothe to Thangnag

    Most of today involves climbing uphill toward Thangnag village at 4,356 m/14,288 ft. The trails are steep with less forest, so the sun is intense. Bring sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and something to cover your face from dust and wind. After about 6 hours, you reach Thangnag with views of Mera La and other peaks.

  8. Day 8

    Thangnag to Khare

    You start early after breakfast and trek toward Khare village, reaching roughly 5,000 m/16,404 ft by evening. The route goes through debris ridges along Dig Glacier and into meadows at Dig Kharka with views of Charpate Himal and Mera Peak's north face. At this elevation, fatigue sets in from thin oxygen levels.

  9. Day 9

    Khare

    Khare is your acclimatization stop for the day. Take short walks near the lodge and stay active, but don't go higher. Your climbing leader teaches proper climbing techniques and safety procedures, and you'll practice with your gear in preparation for Mera Peak.

  10. Day 10

    Khare to Mera Peak Base Camp

    After breakfast, you trek from Khare to Mera Peak Base Camp by crossing Mera La Pass at 5,400 m/17,717 ft. The trail is steep leading to the snowline with frozen scree and boulders, then you traverse Mera Glacier crossing crevasses. After descending about 100 m into the Hongu river valley, base camp appears in roughly 4 hours where tents get set up.

  11. Day 11

    Mera Peak Base Camp to High Camp

    A very early start takes you to Mera Peak High Camp. Freezing conditions and ice formation are expected on the snowy trails with frigid mountain temperatures. The steep climb takes 4 to 5 hours. Weather allowing, you'll see Mt. Everest and Mt. Makalu from camp. Rest is important since you have a short night before tomorrow.

  12. Day 12

    Mera Peak Summit

    Summit day begins at 2 am with breakfast, then you put on crampons and rope up. A well-acclimatized group reaches the central summit in 3 to 4 hours. Conditions permitting, you may also reach the slightly higher north summit. The 360-degree view from top shows Everest, Cho-Oyu, Lhotse, Makalu, Kangchenjunga and other peaks. After celebrating, the descent back to High Camp takes 8 to 9 hours total.

  13. Day 13

    Contingency Day

    This day serves as a backup if weather blocked your summit attempt on day 12. If conditions look stable and snow storms aren't forecast, you'll go for the summit today. If you already summited successfully, this provides extra rest and acclimatization time.

  14. Day 14

    High Camp to Kothe

    After summiting Mera Peak, you descend through the Hinku valley back to Kothe for a stay in a local teahouse. The evening is for celebration with local food and drinks while you rest after the intense climbing.

  15. Day 15

    Kothe to Thuli Kharka

    Today takes you back up through lush forest on the west side of Hinku Valley to reach Thuli Kharka, staying below Zatrwa La pass. The walk goes through beautiful red rhododendron forest. On clear days, you'll see Mera Peak and the remote valleys on its south side throughout the hike.

  16. Day 16

    Zatrwa La - Chutanga to Lukla

    A 2-hour uphill trek from Thuli Kharka brings you to Zatrwa La pass. From there you get nice views of Lukla valley, Cho-Yu, Numbur Himal, Kusum Khangru, Kongde Peak and other mountains. After the pass, you descend all the way to Chutanga, then continue on easier terrain to reach Lukla village. The evening includes a celebration dinner with your crew.

    Lukla to Kathmandu

    You start the day early with breakfast before your flight back to Kathmandu. The 40-minute flight returns you to Kathmandu's domestic airport. Your representative meets you and transfers you to your hotel. The afternoon and evening are free to rest or check out the Thamel area for last-minute shopping. Pack your bags in the evening before departure tomorrow.

    Kathmandu to Airport

    Your final day arrives. An Icicles Adventure representative will help get you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure. You'll say goodbye to Nepal after completing your mountain adventure to Mera Peak.

    • For any tour departing before April 12th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after April 12th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Icicles Adventure Treks & Tours (P.) Ltd.. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
