Itinerary
- Day 1
Airport to Thattekad
You'll get picked up at the airport and head to Thattekad, a lowland forest area that's known for its birding. The region has rivers, grasslands, and evergreen forests mixed together. Once you settle in, there's optional kayaking on the river or cycling around the resort if you're interested, plus you can visit a hanging bridge and take a plantation tour in the evening.

Thattekad
A naturalist takes you on a half-day walking tour through Thattekad Bird Sanctuary where you can spot Crimson-Throated Barbets, Bee-eaters, Sunbirds, and various owls. After that, there's a kayaking option through the forests, and if you want, you can paddle to upstream villages to see how locals farm spices and work the land traditionally.

Thattekad to Suryanelli
You'll drive to Suryanelli for an optional trek up to Phantom's Head, which is the tallest peak in the area. The hike finishes with a sunset view over Papathy Shola and Anaerangal Lake, then you walk back through tea plantations to camp after dark.

- Day 4
Suryanelli
Check out a lemongrass oil extraction centre and a cardamom drying unit during the morning. Later, walk through Butterfly Forest (the name comes from its mass butterfly migration in October and November) and visit a Muduvan tribal village. This indigenous community carries their children on their backs, and you'll also see cardamom and eucalyptus plantations plus lemongrass cultivation areas.
