      Our itineraries are set, so we're unable to modify The Five Stans of the Silk Road to exclude Uzbekistan, as Uzbekistan is included as part of the itinerary.

      As an alternative, you may wish to consider our Best of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan tour. This 14-day tour explores Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan without including Uzbekistan.

    Given that we will be encountering several different climates can you tell me what the hottest month in the hottest country and how long would we have very hot weather. Likewise what is the coldest month in the coldest country and how long would we have cold weather. I am leaning towards September but not sure if that might be August/Sept or Sept/October. I can handle a bit of cold but would wish to avoid prolonged extreme heat

      Based on your preference to avoid prolonged extreme heat, I would recommend travelling in September rather than August. July and August are generally the hottest months in the warmer parts of the itinerary, particularly Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

      We currently have September departures available, including 8 September and 15 September 2027, which would offer a good balance between the warmer and cooler conditions experienced across the five countries.

      As the tour also travels through mountainous and higher-altitude areas, temperatures can be considerably cooler there, particularly in the evenings, so we recommend packing layers.

      Weather conditions can vary year to year, so exact temperatures cannot be guaranteed.

    What type of vehicles are being used, the itinerary mentions private vehicles, so is that a bus how many passengers, or is it a 4WD vehicle & how many passengers per vehicle?

      Private vehicles will be just for the group and tour leader, and seat the maximum group size of 16 (plus 2 seats in the front for the tour leader and driver). They are almost like a mini bus.
