We are a family from Belgium and we are planning to visit India this August. I was hoping that you could help with the organization of our trip in India. We are a family of 5 persons: 2 adults and 3 teenagers (19 years, 16 years and 14 years old). During the 9 days that we will spend in India, we have the following desires: We want to visit Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. Since it will be monsoon season and very hot, we would like to have hotels and moments where we can cool off. So airco in the hotels is a must have and a swimming pool in most hotels would also be very nice. Next to the places of the golden triangle, we would like to visit one additional location. Varanasi is an option unless you have a better recommendation and also taking into account the season of early august. If possible, we would also like to spend a day where we spend the time with meditation or yoga. We are open to sleeping car trains if that would make the program easier/more budget friendly. We are not interested in doing an animal safari and do not want to ride the elephants. We prefer to have encounters with the local community instead and this could be in the countryside, outside of the cities.

Overall amazing but with a few downsides which could have been avoided. The WTX team were super helpful throughout the whole process. We made a mistake with the tour dates but Rituraj was understanding and accommodating with helping us book the correct tour. Upon arrival, the representative was waiting at the arrivals gate as well as our driver just around the corner. The driver was with us throughout the whole trip and was brilliant, always giving us good little bits of advice before each stop. His car was very comfortable and spacious too which made the long drives bearable. Things went downhill as soon as we arrived at the first hotel in Delhi, Amara Hotel. Upon booking we were told to arrange flights to arrive at any time on the first day and leave at any time on the last day. Our flight arrived very early on Friday morning, which meant the hotel would charge us an early check-in fee. The cost was Rs 4000 - around £40 - quite a nasty surprise to suddenly have to spend this much without prior knowledge. The tour and flights were booked around 3 months before we got there, WTX should have told us not to arrive too early in the day, or tell us before booking that a fee would apply. Of course this was the same when leaving on the last Friday, which meant a few hours of wandering around to waste time before going to the airport. Once we paid the fee and got to our room, we began what was possibly the worst hotel experience we ever had. The room was dirty, there were stains on the bedsheets and the hotel generally just stank. The breakfast was horrendous, a poor selection of disgusting food. We decided to spend our own money and go out for breakfast instead. A fly came out of one of the containers, the “restaurant” looked like a half built construction site. There was a brilliant selection of restaurants nearby which was at least one positive. We could not wait to leave that hotel. Prakash from WTX was understanding and apologetic and agreed to book us a different hotel for our last night in Delhi, which was the complete opposite, the amazing Hotel Piccadilly. However this could have easily been booked for us in the first place. If you find yourself in Amara Hotel, contact WTX to have this changed. Our tour guide in Delhi was really helpful and informative. We were taken around interesting sites and the guide always explained exactly what we were looking at. Interestingly Humayan’s Tomb was not on the schedule initially, we had to ask to be taken there. This was by far the highlight of the day, would have been a real shame if we stuck to WTX’s plan and didn’t see it. Overall a really great day. Our trip to Agra was much better, the hotel (Utkarsh Vilas) was perfect and another helpful guide took us to the Taj Mahal. Upon meeting the guide we were told there was not enough time to see both the Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort. This was a bit unfair, we did not choose the time of day to arrive so why should we have to choose between them rather than seeing them both? Again another great day, the Taj Mahal is amazing in person, a must see. Our trip to Jaipur was also great, we saw so many interesting things including Fatehpur Sikri along the way. More helpful guides made sure that we understood and appreciated what we were seeing rather than just taking cool pictures. The hotel (Suryaa Villa) was amazing, a great base for this part of the trip. We did not want to leave! Our day in Mandawa was pleasant but really a waste of time. We should have researched further when booking this trip, we would have found that there was not really much to do. The whole day revolves around visiting a dusty old village for an hour, which had a few nicely painted houses. Most of the place was undergoing renovation. Our guide owned a restaurant in the village which he was pressuring us to visit that night. The hotel (Desert N Dunes) was great, but the whole day could have probably been avoided. It certainly was not worth a 3 hour drive from Jaipur to see Mandawa. Had we known, we would have contacted WTX to remove this part of the tour and leave India a day earlier. The last day in Delhi was spent in our hotel, followed by a bit of time wasting due to the 12:00 check out time. It was nice to have the day to relax after quite an intense tour. Overall we really loved the tour and would certainly use WTX again when we next visit India. I would say research each hotel throughly, and make sure the itinerary is what you actually want to see. I want to give a big thank you to Prakash who always made sure we were taken care of throughout the whole trip.Show more
