Intrepid Travel commented on this reviewThanks for the review, Kevin. We love hearing your Baobabs & Beyond trip was an excellent adventure. Show moreTrip date: June 2025 - KBKATHRYN· June 29th, 2025I was on the Baobabs and Beyond tour in Madagascar with my husband June 11-21. I agree with other reviewers that tours should be listed as 2 days shorter since the first day is only a late afternoon meeting and the last day just brings travelers back to the starting point. This trip was listed as requiring moderate fitness as a traveler and good for up to age 99. This is not a true depiction of what travelers encounter...having to squeeze through narrow openings in the tsingys on their stomachs, climb incredibly steep inclines, as well as having a constant concern about food safety. Of the 11 travelers on my trip, 2 men got violently sick requiring them to miss more than 2 days of activities. I witnessed two travelers vomit in front of me. For myself, I was super cautious, actually bringing much food from home (canned tuna, single-serve canned fruits, etc. Almost from day one I suffered extreme diahrrea...I did eat eggs at breakfast and very limited amounts of cooked vegetables, served to me in Madagascar on the tour. I was SICK. Immediately upon arrival in the States, I was diagnosed at the hospital with TWO severe types of E-COLI and severe GOUT resulting from the severe dehydration caused by the E-COLI. My husband and I are glad to have experienced Madagascar. However, while I understand that you are in business to make money and that Intrepid Tours are not billed as luxury honeymoon destinations, I adamantly believe that next to the rosy descriptions of the adventures travelers will encounter, you should mention precautions and warnings about the possible health risks and dangers lurking for potential travelers. It is incumbent upon your company to be upfront, honest and transparent. Otherwise, you lose credibilityShow more

Lars· November 17th, 2019Great trip. Good variety and packed a lot in in the 10 days. Couple of long drive days, but just sit back and enjoy the scenery passing you by. Recommend going to the local restaurant in Bekopaka, for the avid ones, if you need a break from the hotel. Excellent local food. Our guide, Bruno, did an impeccable jobShow moreTrip date: November 2019- CDCarolyn· July 23rd, 2019We toured with Patrick who was wonderful! Fully informed and super nice. We truly saw as much as we could see in the time we had. Unfortunately the roads are terrible in Madagascar (of no fault to Intrepid) which makes for long periods of travel time. They did their best with crappy roads to show us enough of the country to get a good idea of what it's about. I was a single travelling woman who felt safe and comfortable the whole time with a great group of people. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone. Just do research on the country before you go so you know what to expect in terms of comfort.Show moreTrip date: July 2019
Matt· July 17th, 2019Really enjoyed the tour. It was actually more luxurious than I was expecting. Bus rides are long but they do try to break them up with interesting stops. Branabus was a fantastic guide.Show moreTrip date: June 2019
