May offers ideal conditions for exploring England's cities and countryside. The Cotswolds villages including Castle Combe and Burford showcase colorful spring blooms while Bath's Roman sites and Georgian buildings benefit from clear spring light. Oxford's college gardens reach their peak display and Windsor Castle's grounds come alive with seasonal color. According to a TourRadar traveler "Visiting in May meant we could fully enjoy outdoor sites like Stonehenge and the Tower of London grounds without the summer crowds." Stay at comfortable bases like the Hampton by Hilton Bath City or The Royal Duchy Hotel in Falmouth to explore these highlights.

Gardens reach their peak in May with impressive displays at the Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall Sissinghurst Castle Garden in Kent and the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. The Cotswolds gardens shine at properties like Hidcote Manor where formal borders mix with naturalistic plantings.
