  • T

    Taylor

    Asked on August 10th, 2025

Could you please provide us with the available departure dates for 2026?

    Tour Details
    • Highland Experience ToursOperatorWritten August 2025

We hope to have our 2026 tours live and bookable on Tourradar towards the end of this year, hopefully around October or November! We aim to operate our 8-day tours on Mondays next year.

  • A

    Amy

    Asked on July 9th, 2025

I have considered the 5 day tour however it does not fit with my current commitments. The 8 day tour fits in with flights in and out of Edinburgh. The 8 day tour also fits, aside from the 3 day Orkney segment, where I am able to make arrangements to be met from a train at Fores. Note that I would not need accommodation on the nights 24th, 25th and 26th of July but seek to keep all other nights as described.

    • Highland Experience ToursOperatorWritten July 2025

Yes, in theory this would be possible. You would be welcome to book the 8-Day excursion, join for the first 4 days and then leave the tour in Inverness on the 4th evening. (The drop off would be around Inverness Cathedral or 25 Union St). You could then pick up the tour with us again on the 7th day/evening and return to Edinburgh on the last day. However, you would be charged the full amount for the tour as you are booking a package tour that includes all accommodation.

  • E

    Ellen

    Asked on February 25th, 2025

Is there a lot of walking and climbing. I am not able to do much physical effort but would enjoy the views. Do we share the room with a friend who is on the same tour? Is there any sightseeing in Edinburgh?

    Accommodation
    Tour Details
    • Highland Experience ToursOperatorWritten February 2025

Our tours do not incorporate much walking or climbing as we focus instead on visiting important historical and cultural landmarks and scenery that is visible from where the bus is able to stop. You may choose a single or shared room - whichever would work best for you both. Although our company does not organise Edinburgh sightseeing, there are many wonderful tours in Edinburgh itself that will be available to book online.

  • A

    April

    Asked on February 19th, 2025

Can you arrange accommodations for an extra night before and after the tour? Can you arrange airport pickup and drop off? What is the charge? What time will the tour end on June 9th? Do you have any tours that you recommend that combine this Scotland itinerary with a few days in London, while providing a flight or train ride between the two?

    Tour Details
    • Highland Experience ToursOperatorWritten February 2025

We are unable to book pre- or post-tour accommodation or airport transfers however I would be happy to suggest the following hotels close to our meeting point: Ibis Edinburgh Royal Mile, Ibis South Bridge, Motel One Royal Mile, Leonardo Royal Hotel, Aparthotel Adagio Royal Mile, Fraser Suites, The Inn on the Mile, The Grassmarket Hotel, Apex City of Edinburgh, Radisson Blu Edinburgh, The Scotsman, The Balmoral

      TravelerWritten February 2025

Can you give us an idea of how many people are already booked for the tour on June 2-9? What are the demographics such as age and nationality? Did the travelers all book together or are there several groups of people who didn't know each other before?

    • Highland Experience ToursOperatorWritten February 2025

There are currently only 4 spaces remaining on this tour. On this tour there will be no more than 35 passengers whilst travelling the mainland and no more than 16 whilst on the remote Isle of Orkney. So far we have several groups of mixed sizes and ages from across the globe and they do not know each other.

    Asked on January 9th, 2025

What type of vehicle is used for this trip? Does it have lots of leg room for taller individuals and is it spacious for plus size passengers? As well, does the tour have a lot of walking.

    Tour Details
    Transport
    • Highland Experience ToursOperatorWritten January 2025

Our tours are run on modern, luxury vehicles with a range of seating capacities, which will transport you in comfort and safety. They feature air conditioning, panoramic windows and reclining seats. Our vehicles range from 7 to 35 seats. The number of passengers and vehicle size on your tour is dependent upon demand and availability. The amount of walking will be completely up to you. It will vary depending on each activity per day, however our tours are designed for everyone with a range of capabilities.

So you only get breakfast and there's no other meals paid for for the rest of each day?

    Meals
    • Highland Experience ToursOperatorWritten November 2024

Breakfast is included with the accommodation and no other meals are included. There is a dedicated lunch stop every day and you would return to each overnight location in time for dinner. Dinner reservations and recommended.

  • S

    Asked on May 9th, 2024

Can I book my own accommodation?

    Accommodation
    • Highland Experience ToursOperatorWritten May 2024

You can book your own accommodation for this tour, however you will need to find accommodation in the following places: Oban, Skye (Kyleakin or Broadford), Inverness, Kirkwall (Orkney). These locations often have limited availability for accommodation so I would recommend having us book your accommodation for you.

  • R

Do I get my own room or do I have to share?

    • Highland Experience ToursOperatorWritten April 2024

You will receive your own private room. When we arrange accommodations, we book Bed & Breakfast Ensuite rooms for you. These are private rooms with a bathroom, toilet, and shower, and breakfast is provided by your accommodation.

  • N

Would there be climbing or a lot of walking on the tour ? i'm 75 years old with a bad back.

    • Highland Experience ToursOperatorWritten March 2024

Most places that we visit are accessibility friendly with solid paths. There are a few locations on Skye and Orkney that have longer paths or uneven ground and certain locations (due to their preserved historic nature) only have stairs, however our guides are here to support you and you need only do as much as you feel comfortable with.
