BAMBA caused me nothing but frustration and were a complete rip off! They were inefficient with their communication in the lead up to my trip to Japan. I had to press them on multiple occasions for my itinerary before I left & only recieved it 7 days before departure. They changed all of the accomodations 2 days into my trip with NO notification. They changed a pick up point for a bus trip and day tour with NO notification, leaving me stranded at a different hotel. The man i spoke to via the emergancy contact told me he couldnt help me & hung up. They took away a half day tour and airport transfer with NO notification (that are stated on the itinerary. They booked dorms when i chose the 3 star hotel option, & i ended up booking (&paying for) all new accomodatioons for 12 nights whilst in Japan. What did i pay nearly $4000 for???????Show more

There was no group to slow me down, and no guide telling me when to wait in the hotel lobby. Bamba put together an incredible itinerary for me to follow, which included almost everything I wanted to see. I guess I should have done more destination research on Japan before leaving... hahaha. But absolutely love the freedom this itinerary gave me.Show more

Warning: I am currently trying to get reimbursed for paying for airport transfers on arrival and for departure which are included in the tour cost but never happened on the tour. To arrive in a foreign country expecting to be picked up or be told what to do and not hearing anything was a bad start to the tour. Added to that one of the phone numbers provided wasn’t to a current member of staff but one who left a few years ago! Once at the first hotel, near public transport, most of the tour went really well. The only other hiccup was trying to get more details about an included bus tour. The company didn’t really know enough details to give me a decent answer and when I asked the rep in Japan I got told different information again. For me this tour worked as I included it as part of my ‘round the world’ travels. I wanted to see parts of japan but didn’t have the time and knowledge to know where to start. Being able to use the bullet trains was a highlight. All the hotels were close to some form of public transport which was a relief as I had a heavy rucksack. The 2 organised half day tours were ok, a few others on the tour were quite disgruntled - lack of info given as we went around. Overall, a good way to see Japan but certainly wouldn’t book through the same company again.Show more

Had a great time in Japan. Itinerary was received a month in advance. This tour is definitely designed for people who are more experienced in travelling. It's ideal to plan ahead if you do plan to do this self-guided tour, i.e. know where your hotels are and plan where to visit. The only disappointment was the transfer from Haneda Airport to the hotel where I had to make my own way. It took a couple of days to get my JR Pass after contacting the emergency contact and emailing Bamba Experience, so I had to pay for my own transportation in the meantime. It's ideal if you purchase a local transportation card for the subways and buses (PASMO/SUICA for Tokyo/Hakone, and ICOCA for Kyoto/Osaka/Hiroshima) as they don't accept the JR Pass. Hotels were great, although the one in Hakone was really far - not ideal after a day trip to Mount Fuji. Was a bit disappointed with the half-day trip in Kyoto to the temples as you had a very short time in the three temples that we visited - it was also very crowded. The itinerary needs a bit of updating i.e. Using the JR Pass - you can basically use it on certain trains but make sure you book a seat in advance rather than hoping to get a seat in the non-reserved train cars. At the end of the trip, ensure you contact the emergency contacts to verify your transfer from the hotel in Osaka to the airport. My emergency contact was brilliant and always got back to me using WhatsApp.Show more

Firstly, japan is an amazing country. Explore it but not with Bamba as your experience will just be chasing communication 3 and 4 times over. I didn’t have a full intinery until hours before I left and was not provided with vouchers for transfers and tours. On the journey home I had to ring the emergency contact in Osaka who kindly organised my transfer back to the airport, unfortunately the multiple emails to Bamba remained unanswered. The details simply said to go Osaka station for a transfer... not exactly professional when you’ve paid for a transfer from your accomodation! Equally all accomodation is much cheaper to book directly, the markup for Bamba in this must be exceptional! Very poor Bamba. I will be seeking a reimbursement and will certainly not be recommending this company to anybody! Avoid at all costs!Show more

The accommodation and itinerary were most satisfactory. There was some contradictory information regarding the day tour to Hakone which caused us confusion and anxiety. Cut-and-paste documentation that is not critically reviewed can be ambiguous.The local contact did not assist when we were not met at Tokyo Airport. Head office in New Delhi advised us but the time difference meant we were waiting several hours. Transfer costs were reimbursed and our vouchers etc were delivered to our hotel. The information contained in our package enabled us to complete our itinerary, however although it is branded as self-guided, only the most experienced travellers would be successful.Show more

Visa
- Unfortunately we cannot offer you a visa application service. Whether you need a visa or not depends on your nationality and where you wish to travel. Assuming your home country does not have a visa agreement with the country you're planning to visit, you will need to apply for a visa in advance of your scheduled departure.
- Here is an indication for which countries you might need a visa. Please contact the local embassy for help applying for visas to these places.
Payment information
- For any tour departing before November 4th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after November 4th, 2026, a minimum payment of 10% is required to confirm your booking with Bamba Travel. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 90 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
- Some departure dates and prices may vary and Bamba Travel will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
- The following cards are accepted for "Bamba Travel" tours: Visa, Maestro, Mastercard, American Express or PayPal. TourRadar does NOT charge you an extra fee for using any of these payment methods.
Cancellation Policy
- Your money is safe with TourRadar, as we only pay the tour operator after your tour has departed.
- TourRadar is an authorized Agent of Bamba Travel. Please familiarize yourself with the Bamba Travel payment, cancellation and refund conditions.
Accessibility
