I want to preface this review by saying we are not "Tour People" and generally prefer to do our own planning. We thought we'd give this one a try. The good parts: The Alaska tour took us to some places I would not have thought about, such as a visit to the Iditarod dogs and an organic farm. We loved those! It was also nice to have someone managing our bags. However, for us the negatives outweighed the good. First, there is so much time wasted sitting on that bus (a large motorcoach). Not unusual that we had to have our bags ready at 7:30 but not leaving until 9:30. Sometimes we got to our destination and the tour director would not stop talking, repeating things over and over, sometimes just talking about his girlfriend. The tour company provided a "Wellness" person (in a nod to Covid) who seemed to have no function other than to take our temperatures before we got on the bus and then call out the numbers. Excuse me, but I don't really want my temperature being broadcast. That seemed weird. But if you don't mind being in a big group (we had 40) of (mostly old) people, and don't want to do any of the travel planning work, this tour might be for you. The people running the tour and most of those on the tour were nice enough. I just didn't like the lack of control over when we would do things and the number of people on the tour.Show more

For only having 8 days to try to highlight such a massive, incredible state this tour was amazing! It really gives a great glimpse into the majesty of Alaska and the awesome local people who live here. There were a couple of bumps as the state is trying to recover from covid but all the workers did an awesome job trying to give us the best experience possible. Everyone was incredibly friendly, from the managers to the servers to the housekeepers. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who has limited time visiting Alaska!Show more

  This trip is considered a balanced itinerary with medium distances and some uneven surfaces. These trips are a perfect mis of active and passive sightseeing, featuring a balance of relaxed starts and some evening activities. These trips will generally have up to 1-3 miles of walking per day and may involve some uneven surfaces, such as cobblestones and stairs. We do allow walkers if they are collapsible and can be stored underneath the coach in our storage bin. Please note that our employees are unable to assist guests with any extra support they may need while walking. Guests would need to be able to get up and down the coach stairs with the assistance of handrails only.
