The only available tour in May, which is not guaranteed yet, is scheduled on the 23rd of May '26. If that date matches your travel plans, you may save your seat, as it's too early, and we will keep you updated once it becomes guaranteed. The final call is 30 days before the tour starts so you can have time to arrange your calendar accordingly. The minimum number of participants to depart is 4 pax. In case of non operation, a full refund will be given. However, in case you are flexible with your dates, we would suggest you the guaranteed departure of Hiking Zagori & Meteora 25 April - 01 May '26, which has already has filled the minimum number of participants!

if necessary, can I book an additional day at the Athens hotel? the tour ends on day 7, probably 18:00. I may only get a flight in the morning/afternoon (i.e., I'd have to leave on the 8th day).

Of course you can arrange a post-tour accommodation in Athens and depart on the next day based on your travel plans as most travellers usually do. Please note that we could assist you with your booking and the average price for a central 3-star hotel will be 110€ per room (single supplement)/ per night with breakfast.

Can you organise a room mate?

We could match you with another female traveller, but we cannot guarantee until further notice. However, in case we won't find a room mate for you, you may book with a single supplement on which we will offer a generous discount.

How is the weather for the April departure? We are vegetarians. Will there be nutritious vegetarian options available at the Mountain Hut? Do we just carry a day pack with us, or does this trip require carrying our own luggage? Some have asked questions about the sleeping bag for the mountain hut. Is it provided/available for rent, or do we need to bring our own?

In late April, we expect cooler temperatures in the mountains, average of 15-20 degrees celsius during the day and 12-15 during the night. No problem regarding vegetarian options. You just carry your day backpack (20lt) and your luggage stays at the hotels. The mountain hut of Astraka opens late May, usually from May 20th onwards. For departures before May, we offer alternative hikes. Regarding sleeping bags, the hut provides blankets and you can hire a light liner from our agency.

What transportation options are there from Meteora to Litochoro after the tour?

Traveling from Meteora to Litochoro can be done by train.

Are there group size requirements for the tour to proceed?

Yes, a minimum of 4 travelers is required for the tour to operate.

Can I extend my stay in Athens after the tour?

Yes, you can book extra nights in Athens depending on availability.

Would we need sleeping bags for the Astraka Mountain Hut? We have sleeping bag liner sheets from refuges in the Pyrenees. Will those do?

If we have a flight scheduled out of Athens airport at 20:25 on the last day of the tour, will we reach the airport in time to make our flight?

Do I need a sleeping bag when staying in the guesthouse?

Exceptional trip from start to finish. The gear list and pre-travel coordination was excellent, very helpful in setting expectations and making sure we had everything we needed to get going. On the trip itself our guide Alex was personable, enthusiastic & knowledgeable, always ready to teach us something about the region in specific or the country in general as well as offer advice related to the hike. The guest house accommodations were charming, with amazing food and comfortable rooms. The hiking was challenging but approachable broken up into achievable daily segments with clearly communicated levels of effort required. The views of the countryside were breathtaking throughout with the section traversing Vikos Gorge & the section from the Astraka Mountain Hut to the Dragon Lake being absolute highlights. I cannot stop showing off my pictures & bragging about going to a place before any of my friends. I would 100% consider using Trails Beyond for further trips or even re-doing this tour it was that good!Show more

The hotels were charming and the mountain hut an experience - there the lack of ventilation in a small room full of people was disturbing. When choosing a car given to our group they had not realised that we all had big suitcases plus other bags, so it was difficult to get all in, but our guide was a master organizing it . Our guide Aris was amazing, and I learned so much from him about the history and geography of northern Greece. I would recommend this trip to anybody who wants to experience a part of Greece that not many people see. Zagori is a very special place and I would love to come back someday :)Show more

Its was perfect! What made this experience so great was our tourguide - Dimitris. He had lots of stories from all the places we went and hiked. He recommended the best places to eat and have a hot drink or pie. Dimitris alone made our trip a 10/10 alone :D The landscapes and the hike was excellent aswell, easy to low-intermediate difficulty. Anybody could make them :) Great views and nature wonders :) I recommend all who're reading this review :) You won't regret it. Ask for Dimitris as a tourguide. You Won't be dissapointed :)Show more

  In case you have plenty of free time before your trip in Croatia, the immediately preceding available date for the Hiking Zagori & Meteora tour is scheduled on the 25th of April and ends on the 1st of May '26. We offer the same tour in self-guided version anytime of the year! This tour is suitable for experienced hikers as the paths are well marked. We arrange all transfers for the guests and their luggage from hotel to hotel while hiking, we provide GPX files for the hikes, many meals are included (6 breakfasts, 4 lunch boxes, 2 dinners) and we have a 24h contact with the clients for any issue. The cost of this tour will be 1.600€ for 1 guest (single supplement included).

  How is the tour in March end? Do we miss a lot or the most beautiful part by going that early? Are we able to do the mountain hut stay?

  I recommend booking in May or later. The mountain hut of Astraka doesn't open until mid-May, so we don't hike to the dragon lake before then. During spring time, flowers are blooming and the landscape is much better, compared to March-April, when mountains are still covered in snow.
