Reviews of Small Group tours to Greece
- Athens to Mykonos & Santorini and Meteora Adventure with Flight/Ferry Included - Small Group Tour
I went into the tour with absolute misconceptions, which caused confusion in many areas. For example, I opted for a small tour, thinking 10 people or less, what I got was just me and my husband being shuttled from one place to another; don't get me wrong, everyone was on time and had our names on signs, but I kept wondering where the tour bus and people were. I had been communicating with our tour rep, thinking he would be our guide, but alas, he was in an entirely different country. Our accommodations ranged from not passible, to 1000 out of 10. When I looked very closely at the travel info, it has us as economy, which I would have never opted for. I take full responsibility; however, next time i will be much more aware of exactly what I'm booking.

What our customers ask about Greece Small Group Tours
What is the typical size for small group tours in Greece and why is it beneficial?
Greek small group tours keep numbers between 2-15 travelers which lets everyone get proper attention from the guides. At destinations like the Kalambaka hotel in Meteora smaller groups can eat at local restaurants where large tours can't fit. Recent travelers point to the benefits: "the semi-private tour was perfect we never felt rushed and our guide George in Santorini was very knowledgeable and well-spoken." The smaller size means quick changes to plans when needed and better chances to experience local life like tastings at family vineyards or meals at neighborhood tavernas.
How does the accommodation differ on small group tours in Greece?
These tours focus on smaller hotels and family properties instead of big chain hotels. In Santorini groups often stay at the El Greco Resort in Fira or the Strogili Hotel which looks out over the caldera. Past guests have noted "The hotel selections were excellent especially in Santorini where the location provided perfect sunset views." The smaller size lets groups book interesting places like guesthouses inside Monemvasia's castle walls or local hotels in old town Nafplio.
What kind of transportation is used for small group tours in Greece?
The tours use Mercedes Sprinter vans or mini-buses that can handle narrow streets and reach places big buses can't. For getting between islands groups take regular ferries with the option to upgrade to faster boats. A recent guest said "Transportation was excellent with modern comfortable vehicles and our driver was able to navigate the narrow streets of Santorini with ease." This means groups can visit hard-to-reach spots like Meteora's monasteries or quiet beaches on Milos.
What is the ideal duration for a small group tour in Greece?
Most tours run 5-11 days with 7-9 days being the sweet spot. A typical 9-day trip might spend 3 nights in Athens 3 in Santorini and 2 in Mykonos. Travelers say "The 7-day itinerary was perfect giving us enough time to explore each destination while still having free time for ourselves." This length strikes a good balance between planned activities and free time to explore.
How does dining work on small group tours in Greece?
Tours usually cover hotel breakfasts and some group dinners at local tavernas while leaving room for meals on your own. The Classical Tour for example includes daily breakfast and 3 group dinners of Greek dishes. As one guest put it: "Gastronomy is one of the main aspects of the tour experience - all meals are at selected traditional taverns with high-quality dishes."
What unique experiences are possible with small group tours in Greece that aren't available with larger groups?
Small groups can do things big tours can't like staying at family hotels eating at tiny local spots and visiting places away from tourist crowds. You might stay at places like the Grand Meteora Hotel in Kalambaka or find dinner at small restaurants in villages like Kardamyli. One traveler noted: "The small group also allowed us to go to more intimate/interesting hotels and restaurants."
