If you are coming from the tour details page for the Classic Costa Rica, you'll find there's a full 'What's included' section directly on the page that goes over meals, accommodation, transport, activities (under 'additional services'), etc. Under the day-to-day itinerary you'll be able to see what activities are optional for the day and their associated cost. These are just booked in destination with your tour leader unless otherwise stated.

  Asked on August 5th, 2026

I'm very interested in this tour, I'm just not sure if I like the age range. Because till now I just travelled in group tours from 18-39 years. Could you please tell me the approximate age range of the travelers currently booked on that departure? I know you can't share personal information, but I'd just like to know whether the group is mostly in their 20s/30s, mixed ages, or older travelers.

  Age Range
  •

    Intrepid TravelOperator•Written August 2026

At the moment, there are 10 travellers booked on this departure, with ages currently ranging from 22 to 63. So, it's a nice mix of travellers across different age groups. As the trip is still some time away, there's every chance that more people will book, so the group dynamic and age range may change before departure.

I appreciate your swift response. Quick question are you able to see the amount of credit I have on my account that way I know how much I owe on the package.
  •

    Intrepid TravelOperator•Written July 2026

At the moment, your account has 150 USD in TourRadar Travel Credits. These can be applied to new bookings, with a limit of up to 5% of the booking's total value per booking.

We recently shared information about our new TourRadar Loyalty Program, called TourRadar+. As part of this change, Travel Credits are being retired and replaced with a level-based rewards system where savings are based on your booking history:
    - Level 1: save up to 3%
    - Level 2: save up to 5%
    - Level 3: save up to 7%

Until the official switch takes place, your existing Travel Credits remain active and can be used as normal (up to 5% per booking). Once we transition fully to TourRadar+, you will automatically be placed into a level based on your travel history, so you will still benefit from savings on every booking going forward, rather than relying on one-off credits.

If you are planning a trip soon, we would recommend using your Travel Credits before the transition, so you can take full advantage of them now and then benefit from TourRadar+ on your future bookings as well.

I have read through the intinerary for your Costa Rica tour. it looks like there is a lot of time on your own to explore. What if you are traveling alone and have difficulty finding your way around will there be someone to help you. It is not always your fellow travelers will be there to help you.

Yes, our Classic Costa Rica tour does have more free time to allow for optional activities & traveler's to do their own thing. You are welcome to stay with the leader during free time but traveler's are welcome to do anything they prefer during that time. Due to this, I can't guarantee the group will stay together or go off on their own. I find our groups tend to stay together, especially if they are a high level of solo traveler's on a departure.

I would like to book this tour but i have a 13 year old daughter. Is the cut off at 15 year old a firm thing or can my daughter join the tour

  •

    Intrepid TravelOperator•Written January 2026

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept any traveler under the required minimum age. However, we do have similar itineraries in our "Family" stye that allow us to safely accommodation younger travelers.

    Traveler•Written January 2026

What do you mean by safely accommodation of young travelers? If i sign a waiver to allow her on this tour is that something that is possible? We do not want a family tour that is double the cost of this one i am asking about.
  •

    Intrepid TravelOperator•Written January 2026

To clarify, trips that allow younger travelers are specifically designed with different activity levels, logistics, and safety standards in mind.

For this tour, the minimum age requirement is firm and cannot be waived, even with a signed waiver. This is due to operational requirements rather than individual circumstances.

    Traveler•Written January 2026

So are you telling me that this tour is not Safe????? Are you are changing your safety protocols for your tours. If your tours are not safe, then why would you suggest I take my daughter on another tour. Please explain to me how is one tour safer than another? Also, please explain in detail the difference in "Operational requirements" for the two tours? All i see is a higher price for the family tour.
  •

    Intrepid TravelOperator•Written January 2026

Thank you for your message. I appreciate the opportunity to clarify.

To be clear, this is not a question of safety. All of our tours follow the same core safety standards and protocols, regardless of the minimum age requirement. We would never offer or operate a tour that we consider unsafe.

The minimum age of 15 for this particular tour is based on operational and experiential factors rather than safety risk. This itinerary is designed for older teens and adults and includes longer travel days, a faster pace, accommodations and activities that assume a higher level of independence, and less structured downtime. In practice, this means fewer adjustments for younger travelers and fewer family-oriented considerations built into the program.

Our family tours, which have a lower minimum age, are specifically designed to better accommodate younger travelers. Operationally, this includes a slower pace, more frequent breaks, accommodations and rooming setups suitable for families, and activities selected with younger participants in mind. These differences are reflected in the overall structure of the trip and, as a result, the pricing.

While individual travelers may feel that a younger participant could manage the original tour, we apply age requirements consistently to ensure the experience aligns with how the trip is designed and operated for all guests.

Would you please explain the accommodations for the home stays?
  •

    Intrepid TravelOperator•Written January 2026

The homestay is a wonderful opportunity to witness everyday local life with the local. A hearty homecooked dinner and breakfast will be served during your stay, which can be a lot more basic than what you're used to.
You'll stay with a local family led by one of our trusted women hosts. Typically, 2-4 travellers will be assigned to each host family. Bedrooms have two twin beds, and you'll have access to a shared guest bathroom. In the evening, you'll join the group and community at the village community centre for dinner before returning to your host family's home for the night. In the morning, you'll share breakfast with your host family, experiencing authentic local cuisine and warm hospitality.

We are excited to start the planning phase with you and are happy to answer any questions. This trip starts with a Welcome meeting on Day 1 (05MAR2026) at 6pm. It's very important that you attend the welcome meeting as we will be collecting insurance details and next of kin information at this time. If you will be arriving later than 6pm on Day 1 it is very important that you let us know so that we can advise your leader who will leave instructions for you at the front desk upon arrival. Your leader will let you know what time breakfast starts and what time the group will be departing the next day. Upon booking you will also receive an emergency number for our local team so if your flight does get delayed you can reach out to them directly and they will assist you in next steps for meeting the group if needed.
