Awesome trip but far too many hours on the bus (as specified in the tour details but after free time at the beginning, felt even longer!). All the safari opportunities were amazing. Definitely opt for rafting down the Zambezi! Our driver, Bryce, was great fun. Innocent, our guide, was lovely and a great chef. Take me back!!

This is my second Intrepid tour. Overall, I enjoyed it and am glad I booked, but wish I had known some things beforehand. So, I'm offering the following advice to fellow travelers: 1) Keep checking the Intrepid Trip Notes, esp. as you get closer to the start of the tour. The Trip Notes were updated several times, with different meeting point times. This is esp. important if you are planning on booking non-Intrepid tours/activities prior to meeting w/ the tour group. 2) Be aware of group dynamics. Find out from Intrepid if you are joining a tour group on the second leg of a longer trip. I was surprised that the group I was joining had already been traveling for a week together (from Johannesburg to Okavango Delta), and group norms had formed. 3) Know what an "overland vehicle" really is, because you'll spend a lot of time in it. Don't expect a coach bus. The longest drive we had was about 8 hours (Palapye to Kruger NP). Make sure your music devices are powered and other long drive coping mechanisms are in place :-) 4) If you have any dietary restrictions, remind your lead guide. The guide has a lot of things to think/plan/worry about for the group as a whole, so a gentle reminder about an individual special need won't hurt. 5) You have to be comfortable sleeping in a tent, with only an electric fence separating you from wild animals. And be comfortable setting up the tent and taking it down. Otherwise, this isn't the tour for you. I enjoyed the game drives, the overland and water safaris, the group meals, meeting other travelers, tent camping, and the visit to an animal sanctuary. If you have a sense of adventure and would like to experience southern Africa by driving through Zimbabwe, Botswana, and South Africa, I recommend this tour.

The trip was great, action packed and what we expected. Theres lots of driving and it would have been nice to arrive at our campsites earlier to enjoy the beautiful settings, but no other complaints and would do it again.

Brilliant way to see some of the countryside and wildlife of Southern Africa. You have to be preapred to do without some home comforts and to be flexible but if you just take things as they come, you\'ll have a great time!

The intrepid trip was an excellent experience. The trip notes accurately described the activities and conditions which the trip would be run under and I was impressed with the overall professionalism of the staff.

Really good. A lot of travel time, but that\'s all in the trip notes so I knew what I was getting into.
