Transport on this trip will be on Overland vehicle and Open safari vehicle. Our trucks are purpose-built, self contained safari vehicles. Roads in Africa are often in very poor condition, which makes it hard on our vehicles. Our vehicles are serviced regularly and are generally in good condition, but breakdowns can and do happen. Sometimes the going on this trip is quite tough, the distances covered fairly large and some of the roads and tracks are not exactly smooth or free from dust, but the rewards are exceptional. In case of emergencies motion sickness tablets will be available from many pharmacies - or source from home and bring them with you on your travels.

For tours that say fitness "active": What are the fitness requirements for these?

You do not need any real fitness for this safari besides the ability to get in and out of the safari vehicles. The step up into the overland truck, while not overly high, can become tiring, as can the constant setting and packing up of camp. You need to judge yourself to be physically fit enough to haul yourself up and down at least 8-10 times a day. Please also note that, in some areas, the roads are in quite poor condition and you may experience a fair amount of bouncing around.

Can this be booked privately?

We require a Minimum 4 passengers and at least 2 weeks until the date of travel to arrange a private departure.

Are airport transfers included in the tour cost?

Airport transfers are not included in the tour cost, however, we can arrange this for you for an additional cost with Intrepid once you have a confirmed booking.

Which airport is recommended to fly into to join the tour?

There are two airports you can fly into Victoria Falls Airport (VFA) or Livingstone (Zambia). However, it is generally easier to fly into Victoria Falls Airport.

What is the maximum group size of this tour?

This tour has a minimum of 1 participant and a maximum of 22.

How is the allocation of bus seats managed?

Usually in small groups like this one, the allocation of seats in the bus is something managed by the tour leader as how they see fit, rather that a company policy. Should you have any special requests, you simply discuss it with your tour leader when you join the tour.

Do you have a storage for cash, passports and other important belongings?

With regard to the security of your belongings, this is also something the tour leader will advise you on. In essence, it's your responsibility to keep your things secure, but the experienced, local guide will have all the best recommendations for the duration of your stay.

- For any tour departing before May 15th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after May 15th, 2026, a minimum payment of $400 is required to confirm your booking with Intrepid Travel. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
