Chennai
Your driver meets you at Chennai airport holding a placard with your name, then takes you to your hotel. After you've rested from traveling, the rest of the day is yours to wander around nearby streets and check out local markets on your own schedule.

Chennai to Kanchipuram to Tiruvannamalai
After breakfast, you'll meet your guide and head inland toward Kanchipuram. This city is known for its temples, so you'll visit several key ones: Ekambareswarar, Kamakshi Amman, Kailasanathar, and Varadaraja Perumal. Along the way, stop at a traditional silk weaving area to see how artisans work the handlooms. Then continue on to Tiruvannamalai, a major pilgrimage town situated at the base of sacred Arunachala Hill.

Tiruvannamalai
This morning you'll drive through rural Tamil Nadu toward Gingee Fort, sometimes called the Troy of the East. The fortress itself spreads across three rocky hillocks and contains ancient temples, granaries, and watchtowers. You'll have time to wander the hilltop and take in the sweeping views across the plains. By evening, head back to Tiruvannamalai.
