Liberia
You'll land at Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport in Liberia where your host and driver meet you. After getting through customs and grabbing your luggage, head to your rustic-chic lodge that sits in dry forest with mountain views all around. By evening, you'll meet other travelers over a welcome dinner.

- Day 2
Rincón de la Vieja
After breakfast, put on your hiking boots and get on the Las Pailas Trails in Rincón de la Vieja National Park. You'll see bubbling mud pots, fumaroles, and steaming vents from the volcano, then hike to La Oropendola Waterfall where turquoise water cascades through a lush canyon. You're back at the lodge by afternoon, and the rest of your evening is yours to relax, walk the property, or swim.

Rincón de la Vieja
Breakfast comes first, then you'll ride horses through mountain scenery to reach Río Negro Hot Springs and volcanic mud baths in the rainforest. After lunch (which you have free time for), you'll go tubing down the clear waters of Río Negro in the afternoon. The evening is relaxation time back at the lodge.

Rincón de la Vieja

Rincón de la Vieja - La Fortuna
You'll leave Guanacaste after breakfast and travel to La Fortuna, where Arenal Volcano dominates the landscape. On the way, you'll walk hanging bridges high among the tree tops with aerial views and watch for sloths, tucans, and other wildlife. By afternoon you're at your private casita with volcano views from the balcony, and dinner comes with rainforest sounds.

Back in La Fortuna by afternoon, you have free time to walk around town, eat lunch, or look for local crafts.

A final breakfast happens before your private transfer to San José International Airport, which takes about 2.5 to 3 hours for the 133 km drive. You'll leave your hotel at 6:30 AM, giving you time for international flights departing at 12:30 PM or later. You'll head home with memories of volcanoes, waterfalls, and the warmth of the people.
