Accra
You'll land in Accra and connect with your Landtours representative at the airport who handles your transfer to The Pelican Hotel for the night.

Accra
After breakfast, you'll spend the day exploring Accra's cultural sites including the W.E.B. Du Bois Center for Pan African Culture, Independence/Black Star Square, and Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park with its mausoleum and museum. The afternoon takes you to the Arts Center market where you can pick up West African crafts and fabrics.

Accra to Elmina
You'll check out after breakfast and head to Elmina to visit Elmina Castle, built by the Portuguese in 1482. The tour covers the trans-Atlantic slave trade history and the dungeons where enslaved Africans were held. Overnight at Anomansa Beach Resort.

- Day 4
Elmina
Following breakfast, you'll visit Cape Coast Castle, constructed by the Swedes in 1653, touring the slave dungeons and West African Historical Museum. After lunch on your own, you'll walk through the fishing village of Elmina, talking with local fishermen and fish mongers about the fishing trade and traditional fish smoking methods. An optional 'Reverential Night' ceremony in the evening features candle-lit processions honoring those lost in the slave trade.

Elmina to Kumasi
After breakfast, you'll drive through the former slave route to Assin Manso, the final transit point for enslaved Africans before shipment to the New World. You'll see the slave dungeons and the resting place of two repatriated ancestors from the USA and Jamaica. Later, the Emancipation Day Grand Durbar shows Traditional Chiefs in colorful Kente cloth and gold jewelry with traditional drumming and dancing. From there, you'll continue to Kumasi, the seat of the Ashanti Empire.

Kumasi
You'll start with breakfast then visit Manhyia Palace Museum to learn about the Ashanti kingdom dating back to 1700. The day includes touring city monuments, the famous Kejetia market, and the National Cultural Centre with its Prempeh II Jubilee Museum. You'll also visit three Ashanti craft villages: Ahwiaa for wood carvers, Ntonso for Adinkra cloth, and Adanwomase for Kente weaving, watching artisans and buying directly from them.

Kumasi to Accra
After breakfast, you'll check out and drive back toward Accra. En route, you'll stop at Besease Shrine near Ejisu, a world heritage site and traditional fetish shrine where you can observe unique architecture and ancestral worship practices. You'll check in at The Pelican Hotel once you reach Accra.

Accra to Torgorme Village
Following breakfast, you'll travel to Torgorme Village on the lower Volta River. There's a courtesy call on the chief and elders featuring traditional drumming and dancing. You'll participate in a naming ceremony to receive a Ghanaian name and gift celebrating your new identity as a Ghanaian and community member. Return to Accra afterwards.

Landmarks Torgorme Village - Day 9
Accra to Lome
After breakfast, you'll check out and travel to Lome, Togo. Upon arrival, you'll head into a city tour passing the National Museum and Independence Monument at Place of Independence. You'll browse the Grand Market and Fetish Market for goods and crafts. Overnight at Hotel Sarakawa.

Lome to Cotonou
You'll check out after breakfast and travel to Ouidah, considered the cradle of African Traditional Religion. You'll tour the temple dedicated to the sacred Python believed to provide vitality and protection, and visit the sacred forest with shrines to various deities. Later, you'll see the Port of No Return, a monument commemorating Africans taken during the slave trade. Then it's on to Cotonou where you'll relax at Casa Del Papa.

- Day 11
Cotonou to Ganvie
Following breakfast, you'll depart for Ganvie, a 300-year-old village on water sometimes called the Venice of West Africa. You'll see daily life with vendors in dugout canoes full of goods and shop at the floating market. A relaxing canoe ride on the waterways comes next. After lunch on your own, you'll drive through Cotonou's colorful administrative and commercial center to view its many statues and monuments.

Cotonou to Accra
After breakfast, you'll check out and head back to Accra. You'll stop in Lome for lunch on your own at a beachside restaurant, then continue to Accra and check in at The Pelican Hotel for your final night.
