Worthwhile trip and saved our time between Bucharest and Budapest allowing us to explore on land in the absence of the river cruise which was cancelled due to low water levels. Enjoyed the planned and extra walking tours- especially the people who ran them. They were flexible and knowledgeable. We enjoyed sharing our lives in our respective countries. The company helped us to get a walking tour of the Old Town in Bucharest and the Romanian Parliament. Most enjoyed Bucharest Old Town and marvelled at the busy routes banned to cars on weekends ends. Enjoyed Peleş Castle and Bran Castle as well as Plovdiv, Veliko Turnovo and Sofia as well as the gorgeous road up to Rila Castle. The hotel and restaurant in Bansko was marvellous. Our beefs were trying to navigate the trains without really having instructions on how to board the trains. We really almost missed our train in Bucharest because we got on the wrong car got off and luckily the door opened and we got on. That would have been a disaster. We should have been instructed on how to stow our luggage in Sinaia. We didn’t understand the signage and didn’t know that the train arrival and departure depended on the time schedule. You should have explained that somewhere in your itinerary pamphlet. Another thing was in Bansko we didn’t know how to get to the National Park so we didn’t do any hiking. He hotel agent didn’t understand and directed us to the town park instead. Despite all that the trip was enjoyable and worthwhile.Show more
