Itinerary
- Day 1
Madrid to Córdoba
Catch a high-speed train from Madrid around 11:00 a.m. and you'll arrive in Córdoba in less than two hours. After that, you'll have some free time to walk around and grab lunch on your own. Later, meet up with a local guide who takes you through the Mosque-Cathedral, one of the city's main attractions. From there, wander the Jewish Quarter where you'll see narrow streets lined with flower-filled patios. If you're visiting between June 21 and September 20, there's a nighttime visit to Medina Azahara on the schedule. Otherwise, you'll check out one of Córdoba's traditional courtyards instead.

- Day 2
Córdoba - Baena - Granada
After breakfast, drive through endless olive groves to reach Baena, a town with Roman history that's known for its olive oil. At the Núñez de Prado Olive Oil Mill, one of the oldest operations in the Mediterranean, you'll learn how they make it and taste some pan con aceite. Then it's on to Granada where you'll see the Alhambra. The afternoon gives you free time to either visit the cathedral or head up to the Albacín neighborhood, which has great views of the Alhambra from up there.

- Day 3
Granada - Nerja - Frigiliana - Málaga
You'll cross through the Sierra Nevada mountains with really nice scenery, then travel along the Mediterranean coast through the Costa Tropical where the climate stays mild and tropical plants grow. Stop in Nerja, a coastal village with impressive cliffs, then go to Frigiliana with its steep streets and white houses. Later, arrive in Málaga, the main city on the Costa del Sol, known for its museums and as the birthplace of Picasso. There's time for lunch and to check out the city center or, if the weather's good, take a swim at the beach.

- Day 4
Málaga - Puerto Banús - Setenil de las Bodegas - Ronda - Jerez de la Frontera
This is one of the trip's nicest drives, taking you through the White Villages and mountain scenery. Start at Puerto Banús in Marbella, a fancy marina full of yachts and high-end shops. From there, head to Setenil de las Bodegas where houses are actually built into the rock itself. Continue to Ronda, which sits high above the dramatic Tajo Gorge. After lunch, you'll visit the bullring, one of Spain's oldest and most impressive. End the day in Jerez de la Frontera with time to walk through the historic center and have tapas at traditional tabancos.

- Day 5
Jerez de la Frontera - El Puerto de Santa María - Cádiz - Seville
Starting after breakfast in Jerez, visit the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art to see the Carriage Museum and watch Andalusian horses during training. There's a quick photo stop at the Moorish Alcázar, then you'll drive to El Puerto de Santa María, known for wines and seafood. At Osborne Wineries, you'll do a wine tasting included in your tour. After that, take a boat ride for about thirty minutes to Cádiz, one of Europe's oldest cities. Explore the cathedral and the old town on your own time. In the afternoon, cross the big bridge toward Seville and you'll arrive by end of day.

- Day 6
Seville - Palos de la Frontera - Huelva - El Rocío - Seville
After breakfast, head to Italica, an ancient Roman city where emperors Trajan and Hadrian were born. You'll see the amphitheater that used to hold 25,000 people, plus the baths and mosaics. Then drive to Palos de la Frontera, the historic port where Columbus's ships left for America in 1492. Visit the Monastery of La Rábida, where Columbus got the support he needed, and see replicas of his ships at the Wharf of the Caravels. Grab lunch on your own in Huelva. In the afternoon, travel along the Atlantic coast near Doñana National Park, known for its wildlife and plants. Stop in El Rocío to visit the sanctuary and get views of the park. You'll head back to Seville in the late afternoon.

- Day 7
Seville to Zaragoza
Start with a morning tour of Seville that shows you the cathedral, the Giralda, and the banks of the Guadalquivir River. You'll walk through Santa Cruz and Triana neighborhoods and take a boat ride on the river. In the afternoon, head to the station for a high-speed train leaving around 4:30 p.m. The train goes 850 km to Zaragoza in just under four hours. When you arrive, transfer to your hotel. Note that there's no Europamundo guide on the train itself.

- Day 8
Zaragoza - Poblet - Barcelona
A local guide takes you on a morning tour of Zaragoza starting at the Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar. You'll see work by the famous painter Goya, check out the Roman theatre and a Renaissance palace, and walk by the Aljafería Palace. After lunch, head toward Catalonia to visit Poblet Abbey, a walled monastery surrounded by nice scenery and one of the best-preserved medieval monasteries anywhere. You'll arrive in Barcelona in the evening.

- Day 9
Barcelona
In the morning, take a panoramic tour of Barcelona, one of Europe's most interesting capitals. The tour focuses on Gaudí and modernist architecture, the busy Ramblas, and the impact of the World Expositions and Olympic Games. It finishes at Maremagnum, a modern leisure complex by the sea near Columbus Square, where you can walk around and check things out. The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore however you like before heading back to the hotel.

- Day 10
Barcelona - Peniscola - Valencia - Madrid
Travel south along the Mediterranean with a special stop in Peñíscola, a walled town by the sea with really nice surroundings where you can take a walk. Continue to Valencia, a busy port city, arriving around lunchtime. Maybe you'll try the famous paella while you're there. Before heading to Madrid, make a quick stop at Valencia's City of Arts and Sciences, a modern complex. Around 4:30 p.m., head to Madrid, arriving between 8:30 and 9:00 p.m. Depending on how many people are on the tour, the trip from Valencia to Madrid might be by high-speed train. Your tour ends here with great memories to take home.
