  Content was good. Hotels were generally of a good to high standard. The English-speaking local guides provided in Bucharest and Belgrade were good. The bad bits: the English-speaking group (average of 6 to 7 people) was a minority compared to the Spanish-speaking group (30+). We all travelled together in a big bus. The Spanish-speaking tour leader was obviously the senior person because she did all the organisation. The English-speaking tour leader had a subordinate role and he was lacking in organisation and communication skills. There were times when we had to ask the Spanish travellers to translate important information announced in Spanish and not repeated in English (eg. what time to be ready the next morning, what time to get back to the bus after free time, in which direction are the eating places etc). Additionally the English-speaking tour leader has a slow, laborious and too soft speaking style (in short, mumbling), which was totally unsuited to the dissemination of information via a microphone. While we could make out most of what he was saying when face to face, he was virtually incomprehensible when he was speaking through a mike. Given that we sat through many very long discourses given out by the Spanish-speaking tour leader while in the bus (who spoke in a clear and loud voice and we heard every word but obviously did not understand a single one), it is hard not to feel a little bit cheated.Show more

From the day I arrived on the tour, I was introduced to my guide who was fantastic and by no means the score given has anything to do with the service provided by her!!! When I realized that I was the only English-speaking Traveller on the tour I was a little disheartened as for me I've made many wonderful friends on previous tours, and I thought this would be the same. But I was on the bus with 26 Spanish speaking tourist that spoke very little or no English at all. The times I really felt I was travelling alone was mostly around the group activities and meals out. At the group meals or even in the "free time" periods where most had formed friendships during the tour, I was like the leper that no one wanted to sit with as I didn't speak Spanish. My English guide was amazing and went beyond her job to try and make me feel welcome but it's just not the same as being on a tour where you have the opportunity to build friendships and experiences together. I would urge anyone traveling solo, ask questions as you could get stuck on a non-English tour like me. I wish I asked more around like how many English Speaking people are on the tour. For me it was more about making a sale rather than customer satisfaction!!!Show more
