- Day 1
Lanzarote
You'll land in Lanzarote and pick up your rental car to drive to Puerto del Carmen where you're staying. If there's time before checking in, head over to Arrecife, the island's capital. The harbor there is worth a look, and the town has some historic fortresses plus a nice beach if you want to stretch your legs after traveling.

- Day 2
Teguise
Teguise is one of the oldest towns on the island and used to be the capital, so there's plenty of history walking through the cobbled streets and checking out the various squares. The Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe church is impressive. If you're interested, Santa Barbara Castle has a Pirate Museum, and there's a lively Sunday market if that's the day you're there. The Mirador de los Helechos hike gives you valley views, and you can grab lunch at a local restaurant with good views.

- Day 3
Famara - Mirador del Río
The north of Lanzarote has some dramatic scenery. You'll hike along the Famara cliffs where the views out to the ocean are really nice. After that, take a walk on the long golden beach. By late afternoon, head to the Mirador del Río café perched on the cliffs to watch the light change over La Graciosa island across the water. It's a good spot for a drink and to rest after the day's walking.

- Day 4
Jameos del Agua - Jardín de Cactus - Timanfaya National Park
Start the morning at Jameos del Agua, where a lava tunnel has been turned into an interesting architectural space. Then drive to the Jardín de Cactus, which has thousands of cacti planted in terraced gardens. Later, head into Timanfaya National Park. The volcanic landscape is the main draw here with the lava fields, and you'll see evidence of geothermal activity with some steaming areas. It's different from the rest of the island.

- Day 5
Puerto del Carmen - Playa de Papagayo
Spend this day at two beaches. Start your morning at Playa Chica in Puerto del Carmen where the water is clear and good for snorkeling or diving if that interests you. Grab lunch somewhere nearby, then head out to Playa de Papagayo in the afternoon. The sand is golden and the water is turquoise. It's quieter than some beaches and great for swimming and relaxing.

Arrecife
On your last day, take a walk along Arrecife's promenade and enjoy the ocean views. You could have a coffee at a café along the way and browse shops if you need any souvenirs. If you prefer, head to Playa Reducto beach for one final swim or just time in the sun before you need to head to the airport for departure.
