Itinerary
- Day 1
Belle-Île-en-Mer
After arriving in Belle-Île-en-Mer, a shuttle will take you from the port to your hotel between 10 am-1 pm or 5 pm-7 pm depending on when your ship docks. Once you've checked in, you'll have time to either walk around the port area in Palais or head to the Vauban Citadel, a 17th-century fortress that's now a museum with exhibits about the island's history and great views from the top.

Landmarks/POIs Port of Palais Vauban Citadel - Day 2
Belle-Île-en-Mer
You'll start a guided hike following part of the famous GR340 trail along the inland coast. The walk takes you through wild moors with sweeping views, then past Pointe de Taillefer and Pointe de Kerzo before reaching Sauzon, where colorful houses line a small working port. The full route covers about 13 km over roughly 5 hours, with around 490 meters of climbing and descent.

Landmarks/POIs Pointe de Taillefer Pointe de Kerzo Sauzon - Day 3
Belle-Île-en-Mer
Starting from Pointe du Cardinal, this hike heads toward Pointe des Poulains where you'll find a lighthouse and the remains of Sarah Bernhardt's fort. Along the way, you'll pass through the bay of Ster-Vraz, one of the island's bigger western beaches, and stop at the Vieux Château where there's an ornithological reserve. Before finishing at the beach of Donnant, you can visit the Grotte de l'Apothicairerie, a cave that tells the story of the island's medical past. This route is about 20 km and takes around 6 hours.

Belle-Île-en-Mer
Today focuses on the Côte Sauvage section with its jagged rock formations rising dramatically from the water. The trail brings you to the Aiguilles de Port-Coton, the famous rock formations that Monet painted multiple times, and continues to the nice beach at Port Kérel. You'll also walk through Grand Village, a traditional Breton settlement with stone houses and narrow streets. The hike covers approximately 18 km over 6 hours with about 250 meters of elevation change.

Belle-Île-en-Mer
This stage takes you along the south and east sides of the island where you'll find quieter, more remote spots including Pointe Saint-Marc, Pointe du Pouldon, and Pointe de Skeul. The cliffs here are among the highest on Belle-Île and the scenery is quite rugged. The hike ends in Locmaria, a sheltered village that's tucked away from the prevailing wind. Overall it's about 14.5 km with 5.5 hours of walking and roughly 275 meters of elevation gain and loss.

Belle-Île-en-Mer
On your final hike, you'll reach the Kerdonis lighthouse at the island's far end and then continue to Grands Sables, Belle-Île's largest beach. The route passes several Vauban fortifications, old batteries and redoubts that dot the coastline. After finishing, you'll head back to the Port of Palais where your luggage is waiting before heading back to your ship. The trail is about 16 km and takes roughly 5.5 hours to complete.
