- Day 1
Porto
You'll arrive in Porto and get settled at your hotel. The welcome pack they give you has all the information you'll need for the hiking adventure ahead.

- Day 2
Matosinhos to Vila do Conde
After breakfast, your guide picks you up and drives to Matosinhos to begin the Portuguese coastal walk. You'll head along wooden walkways and footpaths crossing sandy beaches and nature reserves, passing through fishing villages until you reach the historic town of Vila do Conde.

Landmarks Vila do Conde - Day 3
Vila do Conde to Esposende
From Vila do Conde, you walk through residential neighborhoods toward Povoa de Varzim. Much of the day follows the coast with flowers and sand dunes around you, then you move inland through market gardens and forests. You'll cross a bridge over the Cávado estuary to get to Esposende.

Landmarks Povoa de Varzim - Day 4
Esposende to Viana do Castelo
Today you leave the coast and walk through villages and forest alongside the river. The extremely long Eiffel Bridge gets you across to Viana do Castelo, an attractive town with a mix of old and new architecture. From the hilltops there, you can see out over the Lima Valley and estuary.

Landmarks Viana do Castelo - Day 5
Viana do Castelo to Vila Praia de Âncora
This stage keeps you mostly inland but you'll catch occasional coastal views from hilltop villages. You walk through eucalyptus forest as the path climbs uphill, then descends down to Vila Praia de Âncora, a tranquil beach resort where you'll spend the night.

Vila Praia de Âncora to A Guarda
A flat coastal path takes you from Âncora through Moledo to the charming town of Caminha. If you have time, there's a detour through pine forest next to the beach. Later, you take the ferry across the Minho River to A Guarda in Spain, a quiet fishing village where seafood is the specialty.

A Guarda to Oia
If you're interested, head out to the Celtic settlement of Santa Tegra for spectacular views before leaving town. You follow the Camino through A Guarda and out to the rugged coastline, using coastal paths and forest trails to reach Oia, a small beach village with a 12th century monastery.

Oia to Baiona
You start with small fields, scattered houses and villages along the coast. As you continue, the scenery shifts and you cut through the mountains. A final descent takes you through countryside and past two old churches before you arrive at the medieval center of Baiona.

Baiona to Vigo
Leaving Baiona's residential areas, the terrain becomes more rural with villages and wooded sections. After a brief stretch on a busy road, you move through villages toward Vigo. The Camino guides you through Castrelos Park so you can avoid the city center.

- Day 10
Vigo to Arcade
You walk along Vigo's main shopping street and then out of the city onto a long road connecting hilltop villages with views of the city, estuary and harbor. Midway through the day, you swap buildings for trees before climbing steeply down to Redondela. From there it's through forest and down to Arcade, a riverside town known for oysters.

Arcade to Pontevedra
Leaving Arcade via its iconic bridge, you follow ancient stone paths through forest. A scenic detour along the River Tomeza brings you to Pontevedra with birdsong and green spaces instead of traffic. Spend time in the historic town center exploring atmospheric squares and tapas bars.

Pontevedra to Caldas de Reis
Your route passes through charming landscape and forest sections before reaching the riverside spa village of Caldas de Reis. When you arrive at the main square, you can soak your feet in the thermal spring to relax.

Caldas de Reis to Padrón
You start with a gentle climb through small villages and the charming Valga forest. Impressive churches and stone crosses line your way to Padrón, the riverside town where, according to local legend, the body of St. James was laid to rest.

Padrón to Santiago de Compostela
The final stage takes you mostly through countryside with pretty wooded sections. Only the last few kilometers have you walking through busy urban areas. Once you enter the old narrow streets of Santiago's medieval center, the atmosphere shifts as you approach the cathedral square.
